View Full Version : IT7-Max2 V.2 Problem with Memory 3:4.....

I just got my IT7-Max2 V.2 Mobo and strange things are happening.....With my previus ASUS P4B533-E(two of them) and my IT7Max2 V.1, I could run my memory module at 3:4 and at 256MHz(512MHz DDR) my Corsair and at 262MHz(524MHz DDR) my Kingston(PC2700).....

Now....With this Mobo(IT7-Max2 V.2) when I put the CPU/Mem divider at 4:5 and HIGH , my memory can ONLY reach 247MHz(492MHz DDR)(The Kingstone one) and my Corsair can reach at 242MHz(484MHz DDR).....

When I put the CPU/mem devider at 3:4 and LOW, then my memory can reach ONLY 220MHz(440MHz DDR)......

In BOTH cases I just can't reach no matter what not even 250MHz(500MHz DDR).....Isn't that strange?.....I can't RMA it cos I have Modd it and full loaded with heatsinks and stuff like that.....Is it ONLY MY PROBLEM or someone of you guys have noticed that too????....

hi hipro!
i think that it's a your problem only.... :(
i've got your same mobo... i run my twinmos at 245max w/ 2.9vdimm (i have not modded the mobo  ), but I know people with the same mobo that quietly launches his/her mems to more than 250.....

I don't sincerely know whether to tell you... however if you don't succeed really to run the memory... and you would like to try to sell her... :slobber: you know where to find me... :D:D

byez

I prefair to keep my memory and shell this Mobo....I think I'll stay with my V.1 ABIT...... :D

Hi

Well I have no prob running running mine with 3/4 enabled and mem @ 240 mhz (Geil 433 Ultra Platinum) 2.7volts, so I would say the board is spooked.

idd, weird :(

Mine is acting weird too lately. Sometimes I can run at 230, 2-7-2-2, sometimes even not at 224Mhz. Spooked is the right word, I guess. :)

That's pretty strange, don't you think???....

Yeah, indeed.
It started about 3 weeks ago. While JC was a my place, I tried his stick of Corsair PC3500 and I could run 3dmark at 230Mhz, 2-5-2-2. We were pretty surprised it managed that speed with those settings.
2-3 days later, the little problems started. I couldn't bench at 224Mhz, 2-7-2-2 with the stick in DIMM1. DIMM 2 gave better performance, although DIMM1 was always better.
And so it continued, with instability at different speeds. Looks like the same problem you have, hipro5. :(
Think I'm gonna get the 4PEA+ this week and see if it performs better. I've heard good things about this board.

I think I'll stay with my V.1 Mobo...It "rocks" and it is very stable.....The only think that is "minus" in V.1 with the 845E chip,is that it has LES memory bandwidth than th 845PE....I'll live with that..... :)

I'm getting my old IT7 back one of these days. Bought it back from the guy to whome I sold it last month.
I liked that IT7 way to much. :p

mine can do 3dmark at 246mhz, working on 248, 2-5-2-2 at 2.96v, maxed otu 256mhz from my ram, alwyas 2-5-2-2 2.96v (unstable)

You're a lucky guy Dirty_Punk.....BTW Your Mobo is WITH or WITHOUT the "famous" missing resistor????.....

.....and what about your's jupiler???....Is it WITH or WITHOUT the missing resistor????.....I begin to think that those V.2 with the missing resistor are craps...!!!....I bet jupiler yours is WITH the missing resistor....Please correct me if I'm wrong.....I hope I'm not and I'll buy again one of those WITH the resistor on it.....(I hope yours jupiler is with the missing resistor to give me hope to buy again one V.2)..... :D

Mine has the resistor.
I think it's all a crapshoot, some are lucky and have a very good working board and some excellent memory sticks.
Looks like I'm not a part fo them. :D

If you have the Differenal Current option on a IT7 max2 2.0 at the end of the memory settings try 4x 5x or 6x, anything but default.

My board was a dog until I set 5x Iref.

Thanks man for the tip,but I've already tried that and the max I can get is when I put it at 7 Iref....No good... :(

Hi

Well its a hit and miss thing I think. Mine has the resistor and has been running fine no probs at all 3/4 enabled, now im just awaiting the arrival of my new Sapphire 9700pro rev 3.0 with the good 2.8ns mem on :).

Same thing here...
I´ve put my rig together yesterday, with abit`s it7max2v2(resistor included:D), with an 1.8 C1 and the geil memory.

It runs rock-solid @ 194 fsb with the 4/5 (2-5-3-3) but it fails to boot @ 175 fsb with the 3/4... boots with CL 2.5 but doesn`t load windows...

Latest Jupiler`s modded bios.

Strange....

Default is the same as x6 ?!

I think the fastes is x7, the slowest is x5
