My cpu will get stuck at 100% usage, tho when I'm searching through processes none are over 10k memory. Why could this be happening? From a fresh reboot my cpu runs fine and then when I play a game or something the game may freeze on me and I exit the game out and then my cpu is stuck at 100% usage and I can't even open up firefox. Any suggestions? Thanks

Go To Task Manager and go to processes, then hit view and then select columns. Check the CPU Usage Button, and then check the process that has a high number of CPU Usage.

It was firefox. Whenever I opened it, it would use 100% cpu usage. So weird!

most likely spyware, or you just have way to many tabs opening at one time.

With one tab open it will be 100% cpu usage even when minimised. After running spybot/adaware the problem still presists but this dosen't happen with IE. Any suggestions?

Can you clarify the version of FireFox you are running?

I get 100% cpu usage with some Java compilers. Idk why, the same compilers take almost no resoruces on my old 466MHz Celery. Maybe some bug with AMD CPU's?

I uninstalled it. It is no longer happening with IE though. I think I may need to update the firmware on my router though. I've been having gaming issues with my connection where I would not be able to do anything in game but I could see what other people were doing and then I would finally get a linkdead msg from the game. I have no idea if this could be related with my 100% cpu problem but I am going to try to update the firmware on my router.

Edit: my inet and rig have been seeming to run a lil sluggish for some reason (only at certain times), I'm figuring it's my inet connection, im prime stable and memtest stable and my gc is arti free in 3dmark05. I have a weird comp or something

2nd Edit important: I ran 10 download tests the same time yesterday and my comp seemed to be running very sluggish, taking alot of time to even load google etc. and open up folders, and I was getting a horrible d/l speed of 300k/s or so. I just did it now and its flying 980k/s (closely that because I did a few tests) seems to be random problems for my comp

i would suggest a reset to default settings on your router and a reinstall of your O/S

This same speed problem is happening on my bot computer also. Exact same test speeds at different times. For example I just did a DL test on this machine and was 980k/s and did it on the other one and it was like 967k/s or something like that, now I do a test 5 min later on my main machine and get a 333k/s and do the same 1 min after on my bot machine and get low 300k/s result. I'm going to try to update the firmware on my router and then if that dosen't solve it I will try to bypass the router. I doubt it's the OS because of my other comp doing the same thing.

Well at least we are narrowing things down. How many days has this been happening. It could be that your ISP is working on your lines creating near horrible speeds at certain times.

I get the same thing, good days everything is smooth with 1mb/sec but sometimes it gets nasty with slow computer and 2-300kb/sec topspeed even from cloose source.
Still havent found out what it is..

I've been having this problem for weeks. It ruins my comp speed while it's at it also. This is a fresh OS install as of 1.5 weeks ago. BTW I upgraded my firmware to newest and still having the same problem. Sooo confusing

hmm. Have you tried to connect it directly instead of through a router yet?

I am going to try bypassing the router but I will have to do that tomorrow, which I will. I'm going to have to get into the celing to feed more cable through to my comp. I'll give you an update tomorrow once that is completed. Good night!
