well as some of yall know i am on my quest for 10K in 05 w/ the stock hsf, and i noticed that when i hit 9310 i hit 56fps like the 4-5 seconds within the first gametest, i usually use this as a meter to tell if its gonna help or not, well now i run the test at stock speeds (cpu & gpu) i hit like 46 at that same spot, and lately i keep get higher overclocks on my cpu and i would go run 05 and now no matter what gpu speed i hit 49 at that spot, and i overclock to 545Mhz and hit 49fps at that spot, downclock to 515 and hit only 49fps at that spot.

I know its not throttling, but i am not sure whats going on, and i have let it run all the way though to see if its just that spot but the whole test is lower than the average on my 9310 score.

i have messed around with the memory speeds and that doesnt really help.

ugh havent you read anything about these cards? the way the OC is weird, its not really linear as far as performance vs. clock speed goes, it goes up in chunks. i think theres a thread about it.... http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=72638 that one kinda explains something, but i think i saw a review somewhere that showed the graph of fps vs clock speed.... lemme go find it.

i understand, about how they clock, i use to hit 56fps at that spot, why should it go down if i am clocking up? even with a faster cpu, it should go up, but its stopping at 49 weather its clocked at 500-545

i dunno, i used to notice that in 03 too... id look at the fps on a few certain spots, and guess if i was gonna improve my score or not. i DID notice that some points liek thatthat i watched somehow slowed down, but the overall score was still higher. let it run and get some scores, then we can better figure it out i think. :toast:

could a windows install cause this problem? cause i could make a partition with just windows xp pro on it just for benching. i just need to know if thats why it could be loosing some many points.

Thats a big drop alright. Did you try un-install display drivers and use nvidia NVcleaner utility and re-install drivers ??

if you clock ya ddr too high "even if they dont artifact at all" you can kill your score

I can vouch for that. :p:

Sounds like throttling...under 36c when test starts?

yeah its at like 45-50C before test starts, before boot, i installed the new 77.72 drivers and now i get 74xx when i use to get 7919 at stock speeds and install settings.

i'm using either 77.76(benching) or 78.01. both seem to work alright...besides..go got better 3dmark05 score than i do with less clocks...LOD bias or something?

no i have done all my 3Dmark05 runs at LOD 0, but the thing is that i am getting lower scores, then i use to, is this because the card is wearing out or because of my windows install (which is my everyday install) is getting tired, should i make a windows install on another partition jsut for benching and stuff? that never gets used for the internet?
