I just bought the BF2 game about two weeks ago and I'm hooked!! This is the first 1st-person game I've ever play as well :D :D and I have been playing it almost 1~2hr a day, so....which map do you like most? Gulf of Oman is pretty cool but I LOVE the Strike At Karkand and this is pretty much the only map I play now....the tank helped me racked up a bunch of kills...other than all the basic medals so far I've got 3 gold stars, 6 silver and 6 bronze, I'm only half way through the 2nd weapon unlock, I should of pick the G36C or M3 as my first unlock but being a dumpazz I'd picked the M95 first and I'd barely use it. When I'm bored with the tank I would use the Assault kit and fight like hell in the beginning, once the team get closer to the first flag and after I'd got killed, then switch to the Support kit and use the machine gun with unlimited ammo to mowed down the MEC LOL I've notice there's a bunch of different 'clan' out there....maybe we should create an XS clan or something. :p:

yep Strike at Karkhand would have to be my fav too. Its a kick ass map. I love this game to death. There are sooo many variables and yet every single person counts . Except i cant fly the chopper or the migs/f-xx series planes worth a damn. My fav is either a sniper or a Spec ops guy. Spec ops , i try to sneak into their main base and blow up the artillery :D . That gives our team the upper hand in the game ;) .

Gulf of Oman, simply the absolute best map, for the record.

Some of the other maps stink...... the map is too big and require 8 GB of memory no thanx... ;) Gulf of Oman works wonderfully@ as low as 512mb of system ram. Not only this map is most fun to play, but is also the most affordable solution... for those who don't have more than 512mb......

I forgot the name of other map... it's the one before the very last one on the list... That map is quite good... but still require too much ram no thanx.... :stick: bye :nono: next? :yawn2:

Yep, defenetely gulf of oman. I love it. There's not too much running around, and it's friggin awesome in general.

Strike at Karkand for example could be the best map, but it's way too big, and moving around that map is annoying, especially without transport. Sometimes running around could take minutes!

^^ Agree on both counts. ... Gulf of Oman and Mashtuur city are definately the greates all round maps...
Also Strike at karkand, all these maps are nice with tank but even better with C 4 and a decent gun ...

Like Zatar wetlands for flying chopper, but get bored with the chopper very fast lately ...

Absolutely HATE either shongua stalemate or sharqin pensuela ... The one with all the water i hate, the other one is allright, great action on foot and C 4 jeeps ...

by the way 5000 points in 14 hours, that makes for some 350 points an hour ...
Thats either very very good especially for a newbie at the game...., or you are more addicted to the game then you think lol...Time flies when playing it...

Strike at Karkand is my fav if I want to take a tank or APC and rack up the kills. You don't have to worry about choppers and bombers. Most of my 30+ kill streaks are on this map...

However it is way overplayed

Recently I have been enjoying the Dalian Plant and Kubra Dam. (it is far more satisfying blowing a chopper out of the air, than just mowing down infantry)

Yea I'm a complete newbie when it comes to 1st person shooter game...still trying to get a hang of it, I only play on 64/64 ranked servers(more intense) and whenever I jump on a tank I can score anywhere from 60~90 points each round, If I get the commander seat I can rack up about 80~110 points per round :D

man....I've encounter some Godlike jet pilot on both Gulf of Oman and Oilfields map, their missles and bombs are dead on.... I envy them but that's some scary crap especially when I was flying the slow arse chopper fully loaded with the crew!! even worst when those suicide jet purposely ram right into us and got everyone killed :mad: I'm getting better with flying the birds but for whatever reason I'd always end up crashing the damn jet right after i took off!! :p: I think my Thrustmaster Topgun Pro joystick is junk, the thrust(throttle or whatever) can only be either 100% or completely engine off. :slapass:

Oh yea, I don't know if this ever happen to y'all but sometime my BF2 would crash back to the desktop for no apparent reason whatsoever, and often get some "problem with connection to server" BS, I'd even clock my cpu, gpu, and ram back to stock settings but still didn't help, I have the 1.02 patch and also updated the punkbuster thingy too.... :stick:

Which map is the one where you can cap the flag from under it in that pipe and such? That is cool but I hate how everything is all on different altitudes. Big learning curve at that one. It's also too big, well I usually play 32, but yeah it's too big. Just not enough action. I guess strike of karkand would be my fav.

Yeah ben905 on the crashing to desktop and connection problem. But, I must say, it's extremely rare that I crash to desktop anymore and other things too since I got 2 gigs. I dunno man... weird.

And IamAnoobieCheez, 512? Damn you know what year it is? :p Ram is cheap as ever.

^ That would be "Kubra Dam" , iff you like flying, its a real challenge to do so there for some reason,...
I never last long there in a chopper... A 100% tank map iff u ask me ...

Crashing to desktop:
I had those crashes as well, but appearantly i was running an "unstable" overclock, cause some bios changes fixed it ...

I think the slightest memory unstability will crash Battlefield 2 ... I'd suggest running memtest or something to be sure it is 100% stable ..

Kubra Dam is definately one of my favs, I kinda wonder why people usually try to cap that middle flag from the second story instead of the bottom in the tube...
Last time I was in there cappin my commander flew through right above my tank in one of the jets. It was awesome the way the jet sounds reverberated...

Ben: You might be getting hit by Laser Guided Bombs. I have only used em a couple times because it is harder to get a good crew in a Jet than in a Chopper. Anyway if you have a good pilot you can take out armor faster than pretty much anything else in the game.

i really ought to get another 512.... my little Aopen mommyboard has two dimm slots. im running a 512 mushkin redline pc4000(i love the ram)..

Gulf of Oman because playing it on a low-ping 64p server is something that cannot be described.

Mashtuur City - because flying the massive transport helicopter a few cm's above the city rooftops looking for campers while your mates beat the crap out of them using the side turrents is chaos in its incarnate, like that famous scene from Apocalypse Now.

I love Mashtuur City and Dalian Plant. There has always been problems with Server Admins imposing retarded swear filters that kick people. They think they are making it a "safe" enviroment for children, but why are children even playing a mature game?

yeah, and on top of that...turn on the tv and all you hear is those words...Filtering them out on servers is absolutely pointless ....

And children should be playing The Sims, not battlefield 2 lol .. Damn crying when u steal their chopper ... ridiculous....

Today i had the best game ever on Strike of Karkand, again a long game...balanced teams ... Very cool game...

Absolutely no statting what so ever, just 2 teams that both wanted to win badly ..

Then i got kicked for saying the F word combined with LoL ... Minivan stopped to let me drive along, we drove for about 1 meter before we got shot by a tank point blank which was coming round the corner ...

Pretty hilarious, talk about bad luck ... So i typed "f-uck lol" and got kicked...DAMN i was pissed...Best game in weeks and i got kicked because of that ...

It will be very hard for me to adapt to those servers, which are becoming more common everyday...
Like swearing is "sooo last week", and being as "upright and decent" as possible is considered trendy or something ...

Anyways, im beginning to like the city maps more and more, nice C 4 action...And Gulf of Oman will always be one of my favourites ...

Battlefield 2 is best enjoyed with teamwork and manners, give everybody rides, make sure nobody else is getting shot at, use caution when blowing c4, look at the radar or behind you when backing up a vehicle, learn to f-ing DRIVE and NOT hit your teammates.....it really does make the game that much better

Last night I saw the funniest thing ever happen on Gulf of Oman....I was waiting for the jet to spawn on the deck and saw 4 people from the USMC team running around the same spot, 3 more people just spawn so they ran toward those 4 and all of them were running around in circle and jumping like mad, after a minute or so the Apache spawn about 30ft infront of them, the next thing I know, all of them were shooting at eachother, some were using the grenade launcher and some were cutting each other with knife and bunny hop like crazy, I was like WTF?? 5 of them ended up dead so the 2 survivors jumped right in the Apache, right before it take off I saw the MEC bomber heading toward us so I ran like hell, the MEC bomber unloaded right on top of the Apache and blew it into pieces...it was hilarious!! :lol:

i hate apache wh0res, when it gets wh0red alot i steal it and park on the side of the map somewhere and sit there and let the sad bastards wait ages for it, soo funny lol there all like "Wheres the blackhawk??"

my fav map is sharqi peninsula, i use the m95 to good effect on there, sometimes get 50 kills and only a couple deaths, and hardly ever get spotted.

Sniping and Spec ops are the only 2 things that i find really fun ....

Haha I love watching fights between people of the same team just for a chopper or airplane. They all always end up dying, so if i feel like taking it i just have to wait till they all kill eachother somehow and just park it in an unknown place at the end of a map. Haha.

Well sort of, but you need to hit in the head, and u can snipe from longer range, accuracy aint great but it sure is powerful, i like taking out blackhawk pilots with it.
When you shoot someone in the chest they dont die instantly, but they nearly always dive to the ground or run away, a ground shot or a moving shot to the chest is easy to finish them off, if you like stat wh0ring then the m95 is a good weapon on the right map, sharqi peninsula is the ultimate for it.

A better way to use it is to camp an enemy runway and headshot the pilots that get into the planes, it shoots thru :banana::banana::banana::banana:pit glass u know! always keep taking you eye away from the scope though to see if someone is coming after you, and after 3 or 4 kills move position to avoid artillery.

a sniper is good for covering your spec ops guys who blow up the enemys radar and artillery, its usually pretty obvious which way the enemy will be coming from, and they always stand still to shoot, perfect opportunity for a headshot.

most people waste the sniper kit by running round all over maps and not using their brains, taking pot-shots and giving away their position easily, and up close a sniper isnt a good kit to have, cos u got nothing but a pistol for close range shooting and its crap, always use a remote location and remember your carrying claymores for a reason... to protect your arse while your eyes are glued to the scope. ran out of claymores? be a squad leader and get ammo drops to your location, sniping is easy if you know how. :)

I liked sniping very much in Ghost Recon , but Battlefield 2 is a whole different ball-game....

So far i find sniping in battlefield 2 very frustrating, probably also because i own the :banana::banana::banana::banana:tiest mouse on the planet..

I really think that especially with the M95 sniping should be 1 shot 1 kill ... Iff you can shoot through :banana::banana::banana::banana:pit glass,...well u get my point lol ... (isnt the M95 a .50 calibre like the M82?)

Thats about 13.5 mm from a rifle, even iff you get shot in the foot you would bleed to death in minutes lol ...

It would be great if a patch would give the M95 a 1 shot 1 kill status ... Sniping is hard enough already....

Basically the G3 is almost equally good for sniping, which is a little unfair ..... Does about the same amount of damage, and is very accurate at long range ...

Still, sniping is fun...just a little underpowered in Battlefield 2 ...

Sniping takes lots of patience, as Northwood said…try not to stay at the same spot for more than 5 kills, unless you get a headshot, or the target was already injured otherwise it won’t be one shot one kill with the M95, in real life the M95 will tear you apart if you get shot in the torso, and could make your head explode, there's no way anybody can survie getting shot by that crap but in the game it's way underpower :lol: it was my first unlock but I barely use it nowadays because I have more fun using the Assault kit and do face to face combat. It takes awhile to practice aiming, and it’s very hard to make an accurate shot at moving and running object as well. Stay away from your teammates to avoid getting caught in close range gun fight or artillery, sniper is a lone wolf…he doesn’t need to travel along with the pack, there’s no need to reload ammo if you take your time to aim and make every single shot count. Keep an eye on your mini radar map while you’re on the scope, if you decided to station at the same spot for an extended period of time then unload all your claymores and put them on the same path you came from, put them atleast 10ft behind you, that crap is very sensitive if you get too close they WILL blow. The puny little pistol with silencer is good for sneaking up behind the enemy and unloads couple rounds on the back of their head or use your knife on their throats.:D

the M82A1 better known as the Barratt "Light Fifty" is the gun your thinking about, the M95 is an updated version, lighter, and supposedly more accurate due to bolt action rather than magazine, but you wouldnt think so in BF2.

if the M95 in the game were at its real power, then snipers would dominate maps with ease, hell you could even punch a hole straight through a tank.

You don't download them, you just join a 32 player server using that map.

Regarding the curses, well it's really unecessary imo. It's like cigarettes. There really is no need for them.

MCFLMJ1G is my bf2 name.

I really wasn't that good but have improved very much lately. Not the best but most definitely far from the worst.

Not officially. DICE, under pressure from EA to get the game out never finished the AI/bots for 32 or 64 SP maps. But there is a BF2SP64 MOD (http://files.filefront.com/Bf2SP64_v20/;5254778;;/fileinfo.html) that will give 32 and 64 player maps, and used with this weapon unlocks mod (http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75834) I really don't have reason to endure the asshats on-line anymore

Favorite Map: Operaton: Clean Sweep. Mostly becuase I love flying - fixed wing or rotor.

Finding your stable OC with BF2? Absolutly! An OC that would run Super PI or even hold PRIME up for HOURS will crash before you can even complete one match on just about any map in BF2. Some maps are more intense than others, like I find Dragon Valley and Kubra Dam to be the hardest on system resources.
