Jus a passing thought. Has anyone ever tried to vapochill a high powered TEC? How much benefit (if any) do you get over just the vapochill stand alone>?

TEC dont work very well at low temperatures.
Many people tried using water chillers with TEC's
Most of the time once you get your water under zero you get better temps on the CPU without the TEC.
The reason being is that TEC is very high wattage on the hot side in comparison to just a CPU. This high wattage makes the system very inneficent.
With watercooled TEC this isnt a big problem, as you can just use a big radiator.
But with phase change/chiller you will almost allways get better results trying to cool the lower wattage CPU as opposed to the TEC.
You CAN prechill the cap tube of the vapo with a watercooled TEC, which might gain you a few *c. But doing so would be very inefficent.
I think macci cooled a prommy cap tube with a vapochill with good results.

It sounds good in theror, but as that one law where somting can go wrong it will (which I cannot remember)...Even know it's flowing water it may freeze up or the pump will freeze up...How about you try putting NL2 through a WC system (lol it's just a joke), but good idea...I just wouldnt want be the first to try it, and if you do good luck :)

I did try 240W TEC (15V @ 12V) with chiller last weekend. My watertemp was -2°C. Cold side temp when cpu off was -37°C. Cold side temp with cpu @ load -5°C slowly becoming hotter.

I never meant in a water chiller system. I meant, stick a 320W TEC on the CPU. Then cascade the Pelt lol. The the Tmax at 65c. and the hotside at -90 (no load) i thought u cud get a -160 :P but like u said... It not that simple

Exactly..
Under load it just wont work.
TEC cant operate properly with any real wattage at those low temps.
Even if you could build a cascade capable of cooling a 500watt load to -90 the TEC just wouldnt operate properly and CPU temp would definatley be higher than with the cascade just on its own.
If this type of TEC setup worked, chilly and PCice would allready be using them. But it wont work.
