Hey guys I've got my 7800GT volt modded but I don't want to push it too far with out knowing what the max safe voltage is.

Ive seen people running 1.7v but I dont know if that safe for 24/7

What's default and what is the manufacturing process? (e.g. micron)

I'm at 1.5v at the moment.

OK, I found what I was looking for in the 7800GTX vmod thread. Max vGPU is 1.5v on air, 1.6v-1.7v on water and 1.8v on extreme cooling so far. :slobber: I'd stick with 1.6v on water unless you can afford to replace the card. :toast:

thanks for the info... i needed it too :)

what about my extreme air though? i have a stock a64 hsf on my card. run <52c at 1.44v....can i do 1.6v air?

I would be careful at that voltage on air but if your willing to take the risk go ahead. Note that you should not do it if you can't afford to replace the card in the event it dies.

I'm running 1.7v right now and I'm stable as a rock! I just got done playing an hour of BF2 and a half hour Doom 3. My temps are very good and never go above 40Âșc.

I'd say yes, definately.

I find with Vmods on air, you'll kill the card with heat quicker than you will with voltage.

On water, this is less true, since heat isn't much of an issue.

On phase, you can only really kill it with voltage.

I had a slight scare last night. I was running some benches just for kicks and I noticed some screen corruption in the nature test of 03. I checked my temps and all was good so I down clocked the card and reran the test but was still getting corruption. :(

So went back to stock and still had artifacts. So off comes the sidepanel for further inspection. Upon further inspetion I notice that one of my ramsinks has somehow fallen off. So take the sink rmove the thermal tape clean it up reapply new tape and reattach the sink, catastrophy averted! :woot:

so the ramsink actually made that much of a difference?!?

Sorry my emails not getting thru for this forum for some reason. Yeah it made a huge difference! One ramsink out of place screwed up the whole overclock.

I used some shin etzu thermal tape. I know people will say you have to use artic silver thermal adheasive to do it right but I like to swap out parts and such too much to use something so permanent.
