I know am limited by my CPU and am going to upgrade to A64 soon - however am just wondering if these numbers sounds about right given my config (see signature) - drives are fully defragmented, etc...

3DMARK2001 - 18K

3DMARK03 - 12K

I can only say that there is little difference with my 9800 Pro, except for 3DMARK03 - not getting much more FPS with EQ2 but I guess I need to upgrade my motherboard and CPU ;)

Thanks for any feedback.

well you are definitely limited in 01 as it is CPU bound... have you run comaprisons on the ORB to see where other machines like yours might fall?

Am now going to do this - I somewhat was expecting to hit 20K but my current CPU oc is pretty restrictive I'd say. I guess I need to upgrade - my 9800 Pro OC'ed was letting me hit 17k - now that x850 xt is under used ;) - if I find anything from the ORB I will post it.

I think EQ2 is quite CPU bound, hence the very poor FPS improvement...

Thanks for the feedback.

This has me thinking....is it possible to get a higher 03 score than an 01 score (and not by cheating....01 can be bombed by running encoding in the background and lowering the priority), same exact settings? Or better yet, a higher 05 score than an 01 score, with the same exact settings.

I imagine an 800MHz A64 could do it with a highend nV card pretty easily....maybe.

oh you really need need to upgrade that cpu, your not really gaining anything upgrading your 9800p without ALOT more cpu power! Get an a64 and your 2001 score will go up at least 10k! youll double your fps in games too!
