Both coolers very effective, TT is very silent with 120mm fan, blows air to mems and PWMIC :)

very nice, thanks for posting this for us... nice to see how much diff changing the fan made... has me thinking

Great review !
Now I think everybody will make their minds to TT. With a little adjustments it performs very good - and is cheaper thought.

Wow, a 6C drop with a better fan? That's something new....very good to see though!

Surprised to see the 9500 beat the stock BT by 2C though :stick:

EDIT: before people call me blind, I'm sourcing my numbers from MBM where it lists the max CPU temps since the puter was turned on.

Yes, the more air you can stick through the BT the better.

I just ran a 2900Mhz @ 1.65v on my Fx-55 with Super Pi 16M and because I had more airflow and lower ambient ( 9C ) the max I got was 35C on the core, which is 10C less than Dani.

AndyI know the more air the better :stick:, but wasn't there a thread or a series of posts that showed that adding a higher CFM fan really didn't gain more than 1-2C?

That depends on the thermal load... x2 procs I found little diff personally with a faster fan...but it was still 2 or 3 c

So the higher the load, the lower the benefit? That's counter-intuitive.

counter intuitive? with the size of this thing? radiating heat in every direction? Maybe it is.. but that's what happened.... as usual I'm not a professional reviewer and can only share my own results...your mileage may vary.

UnGI don't follow...you're saying that it doesn't cool as well because the power density is lower? Interesting....I might have to pick one of these up as well as an Opty 146.

No I'm saying a faster fan didn't make as much difference with a loaded dual core as with a loaded single core chip. I have no idea why. Maybe I was too drunk.

That is somewhat disturbing, but at least it's something that can be fixed with a little time and some elbow power :p:

I think it's also very important that this test was run outside a case. I'm sure the performance numbers will be very different once those heatsinks are in an enclosed space...;)

Enermax UC-12FAB / 120mm:

Damn i got excited but its just near same specs as one they inc with BT, we need a 120 or 130mm :D Silent Cat as it was best fan ever for rpm/cfm/db its same rating as these bigger fans at near 54cfm (52.4cfm) i think.

That fan would be hard to seal around a heatink as its round sectioned, or maby not, any ideas if it would gain you anything ?

this is a test in open air, how about those 2 in the none opened pc case?

tt bt is so bigger that it will effect the whole fan cooled channel or wind direction? anybody have notice this? in a none opened case, the fan cooled channel or wind direction is also important .

Have the BT myself, and that stock fan barely moves ANYTHING. To get this sink to it's full potential you'd need a nice delta, or to strap another fan under it (oh, and it would probably fit too.

50 cfm is nothing to sneeze at for the little noise it generates. I gained about 3 deg c at full load moving to a louder fan (78cfm).

Tulatin
09-25-2005, 01:43 AM
50cfm and no noise is basically a silenX fan, so on the grounds of a noiseless cooler, it does well. I'm just a little leery to trust it to cool the componentry below when i can't feel the airflow out the other side (as compared to a much less dense sink the SI-97, which had tons of airflow out the other side with a silent cat attached)

I really like the BT and won't change, but I do use a secondary 50mm fan to cool the power area as the x2 proc REALLY sucks back the juice on high OC's..
