So I was starting to hate being back to aircooling on my gpu, having to run it with lower vcore and having the card slower. So I started thinking about what spare stuff I had laying around to use for a mod. About 30 mins later I was left with this, and about 15* less heat with a nice oc for aircooling :D

Thats just a silencer with a AMD 70mm fan on it?

Think i might do they same as the silencer's plastic cover blocks the airflow of the DFI NF4s nb fan.

yeah i didnt use the backplate either since it's literally :banana::banana::banana:ing useless..........

im gonna hack the edges of this thing up a bit so I can slap some ramsinks on the card.

temps were around 40 idle 65 load, gained about 30mhz (no artifacts) on core and idling at ~30-32 highest I've seen it hit under load so far was 51.

thats kinda high for load temps isn't it?
i use the Silencer 5 and my load is 61 and i have the vgpu at 1.7v.
and this is burning in with ATI Tool and 20 loops of nature.

i have no idea what temps mines getting, i cant believe the temp sensor; it says
50/51 degrees all the time no matter what i do, it said that with the stock cooler
and now it says it with that beast in the pic, it says it looping 3dmark05 or idle...
But i feel better for putting it on so it doesnt really matter.

you should be getting better temps than that. i would suspect the sensor as well.
but the mod looks awesome btw.

basically i have 1/2" sections of toothpicks between the dual folded rubber bands on all 4 corners of the pushing side of the fan, when it mounts to the heatsink, it is kinda like a ghetto but not noticeable fan silencer, and it sure as hell isn't moving anytime soon lol.

I'm thinking of picking up a 7800gtx............ but I don't know how much faster it will be than this card......... currently with this setup, I'm running 615 core and 560 mem, it's been a damn good card for the $

thanks man :D ATI make it easy with they're big-ass mounting holes i could get cable ties through,
then just slap on a bit of AS5 epoxy and add a ThermalRight ALX800 and your there :)
i need some more volts running through it now
