Hi, im 16.. I currently use a pc i built on a aspire x-dreamer II..

anyway, Im building a new pc soon, im trying to wait for a 7800 ultra lol, anyway I was thinking of using This case (http://xoxide.com/sunbeam-transformer-case-black.html)

anyhoo, I was wondering how hard it would be to mod a case so it gets some nice airflow and stuff.. I was thinking 1 fan blowing right under the video card, one blowing onto the cpu, one on the top, one in the back, and one in the front mabye, all 120mm

mainly im conserned about the holes looking like crap, and being all jagged and rough..

I heard i sould use a dremel for this, witch i would have to buy, also how would I go about cutting an acriyc window?

then for screw holes I guess a drill would do.

Im mainly doing this because I have nothing else to do and need a hobby :P but since im 16 i cant just buy a new case and do one every month or do some hardcore stuff and all that fancyness

Also what case would be good for this? im gonna be using an asus a8n-sli delux, 7800gtx, amd 4000+, Thermaltake W0057 PurePower 500W psu, zalman cnps7000b-cu led cpu cooler, a zlaman fan controler.., 2 seagate 250gb hds, dvd burner, sound blaster audigy 2 zs gamer, oh and probaly those ever cool 100% aluminum fans, or areocool plastic ones, ect.

it is a premodded case... that crap is hard to personalize or to optimize...
Stick with something simple and make it your own...

your best thing for holes are adjustable hole saws, these are usaully only for a drill press becuase they are almost impossible to control with a hand drill. most people use a dremel for the "ruff" hole then use files to clean it up, but to get round holes takes alot of practice most wil look egg shaped at first

Hi!

Best method to put a fan hole in plastic: hole saw (4 1/2in for 120mm holes). If you want specific instructions I can post them for you. Takes me 3 minutes, but I'm practiced.

Thin metal: I still feel the hole saw is best. Other methods:
1) Dremel freehand
2) Multiple drilled holes plus dremel to connect holes
3) jigsaw free hand
4) tin snips

These methods, you will want to cut a slightly smaller hole maybe 1/8th in, then debur, file, and sand the rough edges down.

4 1/2in hole saw costs about $30. Drill press is obviously very nice, but using a hand drill works fine for me.

The case you showed looks like a heavily modified Chieftec/Aspire/etc.... Generic Case (too many manufacturer's have their version of it) ---> aspire's x-pider http://images10.newegg.com/productimage/11-144-064-05.JPG I have the x-alien myself, but the only thing different is the drive bay door cover.... and the hdd bay setup... hooray for semi-modularization :P. You could get one of these and mod it to your hearts content, as nn_step said. The x-alien server case already gets enough airflow with two 80mm spots in the front, 2 on the back, one on the top, and one on the side panel. I myself have been looking into modding a case, but I think i will test out my skills on a old wintech computer case...
