Stock cooling (NV Silencer 5 rev3 included with card). Stock volts and BIOS. Card is completely cherry except for AS5 on the core with a HS remount.
GPU: 526 Mhz artifact free
GDDR3: 1450 Mhz artifact free
Amazing. I can't wait to get some better coolers and a GPU volt mod going. I want to see 580+ at 1.55V or so!

Any plans for watercooling?

There is just no room in this case for that. I want a very clean build and I see no where to put a radiator and all that hose. :(

Get a bigger case? j/k, great results, I'm sure with a better cooling method you can do better1 ;)

I just bought a couple of Zalman VF700-CU heatsinks for my 7800GTX cards. Should be here by about Thursday. I plan on finding my max stock overclocks with those installed (and 3DMark05 scores) then I am going to volt mod and see if I can get around 575-600 on the cores. So far the first card (second untested) has no problem with 1450 mem...

Hmmm...second card also made it to exactly 526 before artifacting at stock volts. Add to this that a review I saw also showed 525-526 to be to higest clock. Is there some kind of hard stop here? Needs more volts...hehe.

Awesome card man ! :woot:
I wished suppliers had the TOP GTX version when I ordered an Asus 7800GT today :slobber:
I ordered this card (the one using the asus blue led cooler)

As a matter of fact, there is a significant jump of the ROP clock (or maybe it was the pixel pipeline clock) at the 527MHz setting.

I would not work too hard for that extra 1 MHz. On the ASUS TOP card, it makes almost no difference. There are some nuances in the way the ASUS TOP card OC's versus other GTX variants.
Stock clock , 486 / 1350 - seems simple enough
Geometric clock delta is 50 MHz instead of the normal 40 MHz. So, The ASUS comes clocked at 496/1350 in reality. This affects the ROP/Shader clocks as well. The root clock is normally the control but with the ASUS, your control clock is actually 10 MHz higher than root. So, stock, the card runs at 536 vertex (geometric) clock and 486 on the ROP/Shader clocks.
For example. If you clock the ASUS TOP to 530, that is really 580 (579 to be exact) which clocks the normal ROP/Shader clock to 540 (root+50 less 40) instead of 517.
So, when you are at 526, you are really at 536 on a normal card, and will gain nothing by going to 527. Your real goal is either 517 (527) or 530 (540) on the ASUS TOP card.
I edited my stock BIOS in a similar way after trying various deltas, and was surprised to find the ASUS TOP card with the same delta. Here is my 3DMark05 result with my modded BIOS (similar to the TOP version) - 9539 (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=1203079 )
No volt mods, watercooled, 78.03 drivers.

I just flashed my card with this bios.
Noticed the +50 so i had to try.
Its the best bios so far, put me to 9543 in 05 with 576/1464.
Thats 110 more points then any other stock or modded bios given me.

Yes, it is a very good BIOS. I have tried around 30 different ones, including some mods of my own (delta change discovery), and it has been the best to date.
The BIOS I use is 490/1350 with the 50 MHz Delta. I started with the BFG GTX OC BIOS and edited it since it was a later rev.

what cooling do you have on the card? i know its a gainward, as mine. but mine seems to clock like :banana::banana::banana: even with the vf700.. highest without artifacts is ~485.. seems pretty crappy (compared to other gainwards etc)

POV on air with prescott cooler. Yes it clocks pretty good. Was told to buy the cheapest card there is and i did.

Try one of those thermalright 1U coolers. They are very satisfying and much better than any of the stock videocard coolers. For just one card one of the 9XX coolers is the best, they are just so tall that there's only enough space for a single card and, depending on the mobo, a NIC.

interesting i'm looking at first time water cooling my BFG 7800GTX SLI http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=74125 :)
wonder how much i'd gain right now at stock heatsink single card 9,457 3dmark05

Rivatuner will do it, I think. I don't see anything above that is showing any clocks or temps....

The output from one of my prior posts showing the temps and clocks is from the monitoring component of RivaTuner 15.7. Works great. I guess I should have mentioned it was from Rivatuner. Oh well.

I found that the OC on the card was not improved by watercooling, but, it certainly lets me run the card higher, longer than with the stock HSF. I think the card needs to be volt modded for extra performance.

I took the bios and modded it to +45 instead of +50.
Then changed bios timings0 to read 0713211b instead of 0813211b.
Im far from sure about it but i think its the TRCD value going from 8 to 7.
Cant find any info on timings so im just trying and seeing what happens =)
This made it possible to run ram at 1468 without freeze.
9557 in 05 air no voltmods.

What was your max ram speed before modifying the BIOS timings?
