View Full Version : Run on company computers AT YOUR OWN RISK!
My company instantly blocked DIMES traffic on our hub. Seems whatever they have watching traffic thinks DIMES is a bad program and stops traffic.
I haven't been spoken with and I doubt I will be since this was an isolated incident and it will never happen again. :D
(basically *MY* laptop got plugged into *OUR* network and I forgot about DIMES)
I doubt this will be a good "BORG" project... unless you're the administrator. ;)

I guess the nature of the DIMES agent could look like a hacker 'footprinting' a network with bad intentions not to mention making paranoid perimeter protection devices go apes*1t and paging the whole universe.
Yeah... what you said. :D

didn't work on my work computer at all... it made it about 3 hops down the network and hit a brick wall at the last box/gateway/router to the outside world.
I can't get dimes to not lag up my online games at home (even on the lowest settings) so this just doesn't to be the project for me.

Depends how many unsecured open WiFi SSIDs you can see from your home/work. ;)

Im using 2 different ISPs for mine and Ive pulled 115 As edges (whatever they are) which is quite a few I think.
So are you going to join us paladin ?

eh, no-go at school :(
Wonder if you'd get away with it setting it to refresh at the slowest rate, may fool the "traffic control devices" that way... but probably not.
To be honest... I'm just waiting for port scans to start running on my pipe. Even though I use Earthlink's cable modem service, Time Warner supplies the pipe and they have a habit of port scanning to see if you have a virus or are doing things against their TOS. Which doesn't make sense because Earthlink's TOS are *way* different.
