Hello there! I am in need of some help.

I just got done installing my new AN8-SLI board and I am getting an error on the POST Code Display.

When I turn the PSU on it reads:

E at first for about 2 secs at the most.
After I get a DOT 0 DOT 1 (.0.1) - the dot is acctually on the top of the display.

I cannot get the system to start. I am reading the manual and all I can find is on the .0.1 error is:

Expand the XGROUP codes locating in physical address 1000:0

Does anyone have any idea what that means? And what can I do to solve it? The only thing I have tred so far is to clear the CMOS with the power off.

Here is my setup:

Abit A8N-SLI
A64 Venice 3000+
1gb Geil PC3200
80gb WD SATA
6600GT PCIe
DVD-RW + Sunbean Rheobus
OCZ Powerstream 520W

CPU is Watercooled - there are no fans plugged into the motherboard.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

OK, I have everything out of the case - only have 1 stick of memory, Video Card, CPU+Coller (oem) and PSU plugged in. I reset the CMOS and turned on the PSU (have not tripped the motherboard yet). This is what I see. (BTW the error display is upside down on my board)

Error 0.1. (http://www.geocities.com/rod_costa/img/ABIT002.jpg)

then once I trip the power switch:

Error 8.7. (http://www.geocities.com/rod_costa/img/ABIT003.jpg)

When I had the heatsink fan plugged in the cpufan header on the motherboard, it would not spin. I tried on the SYSFAN1 and it worked. The board stays on for a few secs then shuts down.

here are 2 more pics:

System 1 (http://www.geocities.com/rod_costa/img/ABIT001.jpg)

System 2 (http://www.geocities.com/rod_costa/img/ABIT004.jpg)

--------------------------------------------------

error 8.7. means:

CHECK CPU CORE VOLTAGE

the PC is not even on yet!

now here is my question: Do I need to plug in this power connector near the CPU - please see image. I can't imagine that my PSU does not put enough power to start the system.

Power Connector (http://www.geocities.com/rod_costa/img/ABIT005C.JPG)

I have 2 option on my PSU - a 4 pin connector that says P4 and another that says +P4 - should I use on of those?

:( :dammit:

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!

u should plug in all the power connectors. Its there for a reason. Also the manual would have recommended that you plug in the P4 plug.

You absolutely need to have that connected or the pc won't even start...

The OCZ manual tells you what is what, that's a great PSU, they have a really short intro in it, a quick read might save you from blowing something up.... it's just good advice
