I know, the only way to link it was through a Google cache. It's not on the site right now. And that price is increadible...someone must have posted it early and just through a price on it. I wonder when we will see it again though...I despirately want on and a pair of R520 cards...

I thought I was going to go the SLI-DR and 7800GTX SLI route but I am not so sure anymore...

Which chipset is that?

The RD580...here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=72844 .

Also talks about the intel xfire edition...which i need.

Hm. IMO ATI should better integrate compositing engine onto VGA, but not onto chipset. That way mobo manufacturers won`t have to spend time/money on new design development and focus on mass production making XFire more available product.

They are already integrating the compositing engine onto the vga...hence the diff between regular cards anc master cards...We'll just have to see if the cost of integrating into the chipset is higher than into the vga...which will ultimately decide which route ATI will take.

Though I myself personally prefer the flexibility of choosing my own cards for xfire instead of buying a master card.

Pre-order for £157.45 including VAT @ tekheads ~ $290.00 per xe.com? Is it really going to be that much more expensive on this side of the Atlantic?

Does anyone find themselves wondering why there have been no reviews of this board yet? It seems strange to me that we have had a fair few reviews of the Sapphire Grouper but nothing on the DFI, yet the DFI is supposed to be out around the same time. Why is that?

Been wondering the same thing, I bet it's delayed as usual :slapass:

I'd bet at least $199 or $249USD. The SLI-DR was fairly expensive when it was released.

i dont see why they are selling this if ati has better chipset ready to go for december well "ready" a better chipset rather than the old r480 which is not better than the nforce 4 in add ons like sataII or usb numbers

Someone fill me in. This is the chipset that lets you run ATIs version of SLI without using a master card?

I don't keep track of things that arn't out yet, I ignore everything about unreleased products because it's a waste of time to worry about stuff I can't have.

This version wont...but that won't stop you from running crossfire without a compositing engine afaik. The upcoming versions will allow a compositing engine on the chipset so no need for master cards...thats coming q1 06...

A little news tidbit from Anandtech... http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2514

It shows the core clock of an X850XT MC as being 400mhz?? Now really! Why would the core clock drop by 100+mhz?

DFI delayed? No way, they shipped NF3 939 right on schedule ;)

Anyone feel like: Too little too late?

Just from the perspective of the previous ATI owners who already spent some hard earned bucks on an nvidia SLI setup. I mean, and of course this is just IMHO:

1. Nvidia already dominates the multicard market.

2. ATI's first integrated motherboard chipset.

I don't about anyone else but, in general, first generation chipsets from new to the motherboard chipset manufacturing companies, doesn't usually go very smoothly. I hope it does though. More competiotion = better for everyone as they say.

^^^ I agree. I already gave up on ATI. Like I said in a different post when I bought my 7800GTX SLI pair...ATI lost this round. The least they could do is put out a little information. Keeping everyone in the dark about release dates and what's going on is dumb. They are just pissing people off.

Two places that will be carrying the board more cheaply than ZZF:

http://www.tankguys.biz/lanparty-cfdr-p-1404.html

In regards to the ATI Crossfire Chipset, it looks very promising:

I've had this board on order for two weeks, but I am cancelling it. No SATA II support when you already have 1 Terabyte of SATA II storage is just bad. Maybe a second revision will have ULI1575 SB or ATI's new South Bridge will be around. Till then no thanks. I go will Abit this time!
