Hey everyone I need to say I am a noob at phasechange! I have read and read till I was blue in the face.. Anyway I got Mach1 (stock) and my X2 well I had to put the IHS back on the chip to make it get contact with the evap. Now the funny thing is when I put the IHS back on it didnt even touch the core with a little AS5 on it. So I put a little more on then put a jar of pennies to make sure it set ok then took a dab of crazy glue to all 4 corners to hold it on. I then mounted the mod kit and then the evap (also made sure its getting contact) and tightened it down. I did add 2 extra washers to the screws to make sure I was getting a snug fit. I cranked the screws down till I couldnt turn them anymore but not to much.
The problem is my temps are only -10c and if I run prime or super pi the temps jump to like 50c. I have remounted 3 times and I even had to get a new mobo cuz the seal string ripped off 3 of the ic's from the mobo. UGGGG. So if anyone has any idea what the problem is please help....!!! I was also thinking of mounting the cpu without the IHS but was told not to cuz I could ruin my chip and it would be really hard to get it to work cuz of teh 1/4" gap it will leave.

Jar of pennies is not good enough. I told you to clamp that cpu down with heatsink once you put adhesive on. Superglue doesn't work too good on this scenario as you don't have enough time to clamp it up. Take your time and let it get set for whole day if needed be.

Its clamped down really well right now with the prommy. I know they are both getting contact so if I used a reg hs or the prommy wouldnt it do the same thing? I wonder if there is something else I am missin... Now it does seem like the temps are getting better they are now at -12c but they jump all over up and down.

this is very characteristic of not having good contact.
i made a how to some time ago dealing with this on a mach one.
How to increase contact pressure on cpu with prometeia (http://cryo-laboratory.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=73)

Great idea! I wondered about that peice. I finally got a good mount though I mounted for the 5th time and now my temps are -20c idle but they go up to +12c under load. So maybe tomorrow I will try your trick. Thank you!

are those evap (display) or CPU temps? my temps with mach1 on SocketA sucked! i got round -33 display and 10c CPU with my Tbred 1700 @ stock, when Chilly1 ships something out to me (thanks reggie!) i'll have a much better unit (me, him and BBMods are currently working on unlocking the true power of the carel controller, but thats for another thread...) anyway, good luck with the mach1 and if you get a chance to regass it!!!

Actually if it is stock Mach I... +12c with decent voltage on CPU sounds normal to me. (1.6v or up). Vapochill LS which cools as good as Mach II GT will get you only down to 4-6c bios reading when 1.68v is applied... Only way to go further down really is modified units or custom units. Now, this applies only to heatmonster we have (x2s... 3800+ reports higher temp than 4400+, 4200+ by 2-3c under same condition too btw, doesn't make sense but it does... as I've had numbers of chips to play with up to this point :P).
Doesn't mach I standard use r134a...? Not as good gas for our purpose as 402a, 404a, 507, or some other blends people have "invented" :)

Thank you guys for all your help!!!! Ok I have another question the actual display on the mach says -41c at idle (right now) and cpu says -15c at 1.55v. Now I was looking at the settings on the controller and St1 is set to -30 and the St2 says -30 (is this right?). The P1 & P2 say 13. I have a feeling this may have something to do with my temps (maybe). The fans on the Mach are running really slow. The only time I can see them running faster is when I first turn it on. Also what is the light on the display that says reverse cuz I'll see that flashing every so often...

the fans start when the unit itself goes hotter than -32 i think? something like that cant remember.
but if you push the head of the mach tighter with your hand and your temps change at all its not getting contact well enough.

i honestly didnt think these units ran this warm? i mean the freakin evap shows -47c at times how the hell can it loose so much temp wise? id be interested in seeing the real temps of this mach1. ive always wanted to regas and suspected the temps to be around 10c but wasnt sure? i honestly hope your off by atleast 20c in your post but your probly not :)
thx perc,

I got an idea. Go back to stock voltage and see dual loaded temp vs what you see as "EVAP" temp (which is off by about 10-20c from actual evap temp anyway). If you see something like -10c loaded on bios, your contact is just fine... if not, and you still see something like +10c, we got contact problem... :)
As I have said numerous times, the X2 starts dumping heavy load of heat unlike any single cores would once voltage kicks up. You can't rely on any temp from previous overclocks or voltages of FX-55 or what not as we are on different heat load scale which isn't charted yet. Only thing we can do is compare between similar setup and find out what would be the case.

Ok, for some reason my chip is running at -22c and load is at 6c. Does this sound better? I went to sleep before and shut it all down. When I got up like an hour ago I turned it on and now its cooler. What did it do? Oh well I am much happier now! Thank you all for your help!!!

Something just hit my mind.... how low of temp do super glue work up to?
Something to ponder over I guess :P

thats a good point man cause when i had njkids sd3700 i had to glue the Ihs back on and i used super glue and when i tore it apart to put the 3800 x2 in the ihs fell off? i think that my mach1 had gtten cold enough to make the glue stop working? also njkid and i have almost exact systems down to the chip and mach1.... my evap temps are -39 idle and -33 load as far as what my core temps are??? ive never realy kknew and i dont trust what mb5 is showing me
peace perc,
