About the VapoPE again.

Hey guys.

I have decided that I probs is gonna go with that PE I got offered anyway, got desperate urges to Phase Change.

But later on I have plans of modding, but what can be modded?

Its a Clamshell version.

So was thinking of:
Chilly1 Evap.
R404a in compressor (Possible?).

But just for stock, could it cool down my FX-55 130NM at stock?

404 modding to a PE can work but you're gonna get grief. Startup pressures are pretty high for the compressor.

At stock it will work, I don't know how high the wattage gets to, but I could see it getting to 160w at high clocks. You will likely be able to clock up a fair bit, just the temps won't be that cold. Just clock as far as you can, and it should do ok. I can't see you getting high enough clocks/vcore on the temp it will give to go over 160w(it's limit)

I saw a mod by Pedro on a PE or SE and he changed to a Danfoss NL11 compressor I think, with no other mods except 404 and got very good results.

PE is ok, XE would be better, but the SE and a 404 mod is good, as then it's an XE.(same compressor with 404 as XE uses)

The PE is great offer for me, as its a friends so I have seen it IRL etc.

But heard about R404a should work in BD50F, but would kill the compressor, anybody knows why? Cuz of the higher pressure?

Being one victim of 404+PE death lol I'm not a big fan of it, but really it's a little compressor that's got a relatively large displacement for it's size.

That makes it give good results, but the starting pressure is really hard on it, the working pressure is quite high for it, the condensor is pretty small for it(need to run the fans high and loud) and all in all it's just a lot of grief you may not want. Get's better temps than a XE when it's running tho lol

Personally I'd take the PE, use it to get a good feel for phase, then when you're ready buy a custom kit from chilly1 or someone like that and make a mount for your graphics card for the PE and use it that way(I have 2 myself and they're awesome GPU coolers :D )

How about r290 / r134a blend? That might work.

I tried 80/20 404a / r290, and that diddn´t go to well.. Tried for an hour to get it started, but it diddnt work. Had to let out a lot of gass, and then cooling was much worse than stock. Im talking -15c idle, and ~0c with load from 9800Pro.

507 is just as hard on the compressor as 404. You´ll still have to deal with the startup problems.

If you pull it off, the perfomance will be OK. Better than the XE since the XE only has a 3.5ccm displacement.

404/507 needs higher pressure to condense than r134a. And since the compressor in Vapo PE (BD50F) is weak, most cant start up with 404/507.
When you start it, it´ll only run for a few seconds until the pressure gets too high, and it shuts off.

Some PE´s can handle it, but not to many.
