Not sure what category this falls under but here goes:

I got my NV silencer the other day, but ever since i installed that thing my pc blacks out during gaming w/ some sort of stuttering. So i have no choice but to reboot. I dont think the NV silencer is causing my crash issue is it? i mean the video card is running almost 8-10 degree's cooler than before, i ran 68-75c under load and now i run 58-61c. Some people said i damaged the core when installing the cooler, but if i damaged it that would mean that the card wouldn't even manage to display an image. It always crashes when i play at least 2-3 hours of gaming. I even used AC 5 and tried putting my stock heatsink back on and i get the same thing. Should i RMA my BFG 6800gt? buy a new psu? im running out of options. It might be my psu because i do get some slowness on the computer and sometimes the cold boot issue. Can anyone shed some light? this is driving me nuts.

Games played while crashing:

Final Fantasy XI Online
Half-Life-2
Battlefield 2

Antec Super LanBoy
AMD 64 3000+ 1.8ghz w/ Hyper 6
DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-D

Audigy 2zs
Lite On DVD-RW
Lite On CD-R
WD 120 gb HD
Maxtor 20 gb HD
Athena 500w *im not using a 20-24 pin connector*

I had a problem similar to yours but mine had nothing to do with NV silencer. Battlefield 2 was a bit choppy in the beggining and then after about an hour it would freeze and go to a blue screen with nothing on it. To fix this all I did was download the latest drivers for my video card. Remove the NV silencer and see if it still crashes down. I dont think its a problem with you video card, it might be the PSU just try it without the NV silencer.

Make sure your temps are okay. Myself and many others have had to "fix" the NV Silencer to make it fit right. When I first installed it on my card the core was making horrible contact.

Yeah i tried it with the stocker and it still crashes the monitor is ready 68ish on load but it still shouldn't crash imo. I'm going to go buy a Antec SmartPower 2.0 500w psu to see if it fixes the problem. i tested my mem and i did a few passes with 0 errors.

Here is the bad news, if you screwed the card up by chaning the heatsink your warranty is gone. BFG actually won't honor their warranty if you swap the cooler out and have no problems. Take off the heatsink and wipe off the AS. Look for chips, cracks, dents in the core. There is a possibility you over tightened it and messed up the core.

Ok here's the update:

I did a cold boot on my machine today and after the windows loading screen i got a blue screen stating unable to boot volume. i tried to boot in to safe mode and regular mode, nothing. I didn't over tighten the core everything look clean like new. I have nailed it down to my PSU, i'll buy a new one this week to see what happens.
