hi there...
i've downloaded atitool 25beta which supports overclocking for 7800gtx/gt. i choosed the option "find max gpu core clock" and atitool worked about 30 mins. then the system rebooted and the windows errorprotocol was shown with the message that atitool has caused the system to reboot. well. not special yet. after starting atitool after the reboot it showd me the warning that the tested clocks were too high. ok, nothing special...
i set the clocks to stock clocks (400/1000) and continued using the pc...
but after 10 mins i recognized the loud noise coming out of my tower - what can i say: the damn fan of my 7800gt is running at high rpm. the first thing i thought was that atitool changed the settings in the forceware driver, so i loaded the drivers defaults and rebooted the system. usually the gpu fan stops running that fast while entering the windows "welcome screen". but this time the fan kept on running loud.
after another reboot no improvemet. so i uninstalled the forceware-drivers and rebooted. then i installed again the 77.77 forceware. during the setup of the drivers the fan went silent - i were sure that installing the driver will solve the problem.
restarted the system again and what happened? nothing. after booting and loading windows the fan still kept beeing loud as a bunch of bees.
also, i tested some changes in the forceware overclocking window (checking and unchecking the option "fan always on"), but nothing helped.
my last hope was to use a system restore point - loaded and rebooted: but still no improvement. as this didn't helped either i began to become nervous :p:
so whats the problem?! wtf did this atitool do to my 7800gt =/
