I have an XEII, and I get around -24c idle, -15 load on an A64 3700 Sandiego core. I got those same temps on my newcastle core. The XE's are not quite as cold as the XEII's but you can expect comparable temps, especially since that particular one has had some work done to it. I wanted an XEII because the compressor sits inside the case (I didn't want a separate unit that sat underneath or beside my box), but the case itself is a matter of taste. It's large and heavy (around 50 pounds empty) and the power supply sits in an odd spot. My XEII isn't really loud, (a noticable hum) but with the compressor fans @ 100%, it certainly isn't quiet in the least. It is a good system for a phase change beginner, since the assembly and mounting of the Evap isn't really hard. Just besure to read the entire instructions at least twice. Lastly, I think the XE's use a serial Chillcontrol unit rather than a USB one like the XEII's have. I know that some newer mobo's don't have a serial port, so keep that in mind.

It's not a bad rig with what he's done.
The PSU he's added makes the 'hold reset' issue that a lot of mobo's seem to have a moot point, but you have to switch on the freezer, wait for it to get down to temps, then switch on the PC. Kind of a pain, but if it goes pretty cheap it's a good start into phase. My first units were Vapos.
It'll take 180w heatload, so should work well with almost anything except the hottest chips OC'd to the max, but the temps will be average, not into the extreme coldness.
I'd expect if he's getting -15 load, the 12 volt Vapo will be more like -5 to -10. The 240v compressor makes a big difference on load. Depends on what you OC and all that, but if you have a look at Asetek's website, they have a chart that shows you heatload vs cpu temp and I found it pretty accurate, esp when working out evap temp at a particular load.
Still a nice kit, I have 2 VapoPE's (160w) that I'm using for gpu's and they do well, esp. as they're not quite enough to have condensation issues if you insulate well and watch how you use 'em.

Yeah Grey Mole is right.
With current cpu's you'll be looking at -5oC to -10oCelcius.
But 82 pounds is a very good price though :)

Just buy a Mach I, you can get em really really cheap (£150 I've seen), regas it, and put a chilly1 block on it. That will easily beat a Mach II imo.

Just got one for £120 :D
Last Mach1 I got for £80  but had to spend £30 in fuel to pick it up lol so not much better, but deals on mach1's are out there...
Only thing is, if you want to avoid the 'reset issue' on the mobo's you need to run a second psu for a switch, and have a mod done for the temps if you want it regassed.
Nice for a budget freezer, and the mach1 is better to work with than the 12v vapo's imo
If you can scoop a cheap mach2 though, that's the way to go :D
