I'm not happy about this. The inq says it will be clocked higher to compensate, but what I think tht will compensate for is benchmarks. For visuals, the pipes would make a difference. FOr AA/AF, the pipes would make a difference.

people in the know have gotten sample cards with more than 20 pipes, but there is no chance for us to unlock from 16 if there is no retail 16+ pipe card whose bios we can mess with. Besides, I think ATI has learned its lesson with card flashing - look at the trouble we have had with it since the arrival of PCI-e.

I'm a sad panda.

No the master card is supposed to be the "key" if you want to run them in crossfire. But supposidly you don't really need a master card or so I heard.

what do you mean by the "key" ? the thing that makes the R520 fast?

the mastercard has a composition engine to combine the image of the slave and mastercard together to one and send it to you're monitor.

Look at the source, they are right maybe 50% of the time. Just wait until the card is released.

No you need a master card for crossfire. A visa won't work or an american express.

If you still don't understand the deal about R520 and crossfire, read here:

http://www.ati.com/technology/crossfire/features.html

R520 is the next gen chip, while Crossfire is ATI's SLI. It's pretty plain actually
