I just upgraded to a E0 P4 551 from my old P4 550 D0 chip. I put it in, and I when in windows it throttles to 2.8 Ghz, I understand that this is the C1E doing, Anyone come up with a way to disable that other then using a prog in windows. I thought it woudl be in teh bios, but I dont see it.

Another thing, I was using the 14x mult on the 550 to OC it, and I was wondering if theres anyway for me to use the 14x on this e0 551 instead of the 17. The bios has it locked. Anyone know of either a beta bios, or hack for the bios to allow me to set the 14x intead of the 17.

Thanks for any help anyone could provide

I don't know how to change the multi in the bios, but to disable the C1E(EIST) in the bios go to
Advanced Bios Features->CPU Features and disable EIST support.

But then you can't lower the multi in windows though.

I dont have that option in the bios :(
I have only 3 listed
Thermal Management = TM1
Limit CPUID MaxVal
and Execute Disable Bit

I had to update my bios to get that option.

But that is where it is located when you update your bios.

C1E is not EIST, and on the as8 i havent found a way to diable it on my 561. I just us rmclock check mark tm2 and uncheck enable c1e, i use it to get validation.

Sorry. I thought it was the same thing but EIST isn't on the 5 series chips.

yeah EIST is like stepping down speeds, basically anywhere, c1e is just a total 14x multi and .1 lower than stock volts.
