WTF, I was getting low disk msgs all the time, and now I checked things a little closer. I have 7 partitions on my PC and found out that 3 of them are with some space missing.

I count all files totall, then check out the disc status.
Here's what I found:

c: size 60 GB missing 7 GB
d: size 20 GB missing 0 GB
e: size 120 GB missing 11 GB
i: size 80 GB missing 8 GB
k: size 30 GB missing 0GB
l: size 60 GB missing 0GB
n: size 30 GB missing 0GB

It isn't system restore - I disabled it
It isn't norton protection stuff

I checked the HDD for errors:
Norton Disk Doctor told me everything's FINE

The windows scan utility however couldn't finish the test, gave me an error message "unable to complete the scan"

Any ideas???

You do know that, for example a 80Gb drive is actually only 74Gb, due to the way they name the drives?

Yup, what's not matching is the reports from windows...

Actually I found the problem by erasing about 5 GB.. then windows reported I still have 70 MB free on that partition. I said "man I just erased 5 gigs and they're gone"

Anyway I fixed it - thou the norton protection was disabled it was somehow making back copies of files, so I turned it on, then purged all files....
