View Full Version : Whats holding me back???
Hey everyone. I just got this dothan 740 and either iam getting the worst ocing chips out there or iam doing something wrong. I can get upto 2800+ mhz with 1.6v on PHASE-CHANGE! I mean the bloody chip is at -30~(mbm temp). I only got like 2600mhz~ on my hydrocool. What am I doing wrong????
Ive tried differant multis. Seems that 12 might be a bit more stable but they all fail around the same place.
it seems like the dothans just hit a wall at a certain point and dont really respond to more voltage at all... and around 2.6 is a common one i have seen
this is on phase change though...

did you try with pci card yet........ Also try to increase PCI latency in bios that might help with stability. Is that same MB you had with 730?
no its a differant mobo. I tried a pci card with the 730 and it didnt help too much
730, 740 both max oput about the same ....
about 2700 air, and 2700 > 3000 on phase .
3 gig being the top end of a very good chip.
the higher milti chips like 750, 760 go much higher ....
on phase, ie 3.3 gig
but of course they are not cheap
to be honest i think u have reached the max on the chip
unless u do a volt mod and push a little more voltage to see
if it respondes any more..
