View Full Version : Is there problems with dual core and memory?
Is there problems with 2gb and larger memory for Intel's dual core chips? As in being picky about which ram you can use? I am getting this from TomsHarware but can't seem to find anything that backs that up.
Anyone here have a 820D or higher dual core running 2gb+ using 1gb modules? Any problems?
I was planning on getting a 820D but this is rather important from my prospective. Thanks in advance.

I don't see how it matters since with the P4 the memory controller is completely isolated from the CPU by the FSB. From the RAM's perspective, theres no difference between a Celeron and a dual core chip.

I would consult a Palm Reader for Intel's hardware before I check Tom. The 955X chip can address (install) upto 8GB of memory. Let the real knowledgeable people at ASUS tell you so, C:L:I:C:K (http://usa.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=P5WD2%20Premium&langs=09) here, check "memory". What else did Tom say? that you can't run DDR2 800 on the 955X, my Palm Reader says you can. :D
Thanks for the replies, that is what I figured. I should have specify that it came from the infamous forums at TomsHardware. Which I am finding out a rather unreliable place for accurate info.
