I don't know which forum to post this on, because I havent figured out the cause yet, but..

So I was in photoshop the other day and my comp just randomly shuts down out of nowhere. Now when I try to turn it back on again it shuts down at different times, usually before 10 seconds after turn on, sometimes it shuts off a half a second after i turn it on. I've eliminated everything else except the PSU, the cpu, and the motherboard.

Has anyone ever had a similar problem? where it just shuts down after you turn it on. What could cause it to shut off right after turn on? I'm getting a 20 to 24 pin psu converter right now so i can figure out the prob.

suggestions thanks

its a dfi lan party nf4 ultra-d with an fx-55 and an ocz powersteam 520.

The heatsink I got is a big thermaltake tower with dual fans mounted on it.

Most of the time I cant even get into the bios, but one time i did and it read normally like 40 degrees

WOW i thought i fixed it... 4 days later my comp just decides to act up once again and shut down and keeps shutting off every time i try to turn it on. This is making me super pissed.

try re-seating the cpu. try a new cpu cooler. are you sure everythings in place correctly? reset CMOS?

Try running memtest on your memory, it sounds like memory errors to me.
