Cleaning a CPU

Well, I need to be RMAing my 4000+ sandy, it has die elec grease all over the bottom of it. What is the best way to get it all off?

You could, but try to get everything out of it with alcohol.

Leave it on a anty static bag and on the sun for a wile to make sure all the oil and moisture dries up

Everclear where I come from is generally a reference to some type of super distilled ethanol....usually made in illegal stills (like mine when I was oh.....15). If you are referring to something different, fill me in, by all means. Denatured (poisoned) alcohol is cheap and works fine.... save the good stuff for heater..

lithan, i called AMD and asked them if i could still send it in, i said i froze it...im not trying to rip them off here, so no worries there. so im still confused as the best way to clean it? let it soak in denatured alc? wouldent agitation make it come off faster" like if i put it in a baggie full of denatured and shook it a bit, idk. lol

I let them soak. I use 99% alchohol from CVS.

Does using achoholic beverages on your CPU make even the slightest bit of sense?

everclear = 190 proof or 95-percent pure alcohol, Everclear is 95% pure grain alcohol, odorless, tasteless, and very potent.
