Hey.
Well I need to have a rig at my dads house.
And I have choosen to either go with:
3200+/3000+ Venice.
3.0 or 3.2 P4E/478.
530J or 540J.
Socket 478 could be fun, but so coul 775 as I wanna try summet new.
I was glad with my old 530J, though I had some probs with my AS-8 and Ballistix.
What would u guys get?
Its for 24/7 music/film watchin/surfin and gaming/benching.

I like the 478's, they are great all around for what you want to do
i would get 3000+ Venice and a DFI NF4...

I would go with the venice if it was me. I've been very happy with mine so far and it's a good price for a 2nd machine chip.

479, the Dothan is the greatest chip for anyone that still has an AGP card and doesn't want to go PCI-E. (I'm inferring that you don't because you are looking at budget cpus)

for a "budget"/"midrange" rig for gaming i'd say AMD is the only way to go...a 3.2 isn't gonna do much for your gaming experience....i'd also say IMO forget s478 at this point investing in a dead socket is bad business....but if you got a 5xx and a decent air cooler you could get up there with teh AMD's.

Hmm, dothan i dont want, not yet. Cooling Mounting etc + P4 is because of HT etc.
Well, its kinda like 530J/40J versus 3200+ Venice at this point.

For the 3200, the Neo2 or NF3.
For 530J probs Abit AS-8.

I suggest the neo2 plat with either a 3000+/3200+ depending wither you're using LL ram or high 1:1 FSB ram.

Definitely a Venice, and a NF4 Infinity/Ultra-D just to scale up the value abit.

I will use 2 sticks of LL ram. So it will be 3200+ with the MSI or DFI.
Thanks to everyone.
