this one stick that always did 240+ with 3.3v was only giving me 225@ 3.1, i thought it was bad, so i pulled off the spreader, rubbed all the dust and crap off with acetone (not much) then went over the whole thing with rubbing alchohol, and bam, 240 at 3.3v... may be useful for others that think theyve got bum modules..

That's something i wanted to hear :) I was thinking long time whether i should rip them off or not. So i will do it too when i got the time. Mine are doing 250 @ 3,3V, dreaming of more :)
On what sorts of mudules is it usefull to remove heatspreaders?

just a note, this isnt the first time ive had them off, when i first pulled them off i lost 3 mhz off my top OC (well not really, just needed more volts after that)
It's my belief that a peice of dust or something was shorting something out, i wouldnt remove the spreaders unless you are having problems, that being said, many have gained a few mhz from removing the spreaders and placing a fan on them, but with enough airflow i really dont find this neccesary.
I've gained 6MHz on my old Muhskin Black level2 from removing the spreaders...
Looks better without 'em as well :D
