I just stick a straw inside the case every once in a while and start to suck...sometimes I get something nutritious...

Seriously, my own PC's are never together that long that I worry

Well, I have a coolermaster stacker, so all of my input fans are filtered... Before that I used to use really thin Brillo scrubbing pads. They about 1/4" thick. Cut them to fit the opening and taped it on... Now, this sound really ugly, but this was on a case that you couldn't see the filters. They worked quite well. Just needed a quick vacuuming once a week.

But lately I've been only buying cases that have filters on them. What also can help... if you buy one of those cheaper type of allergy filters. Like the $40 ones that use filters. I've found that sticking that in a room removes a LOT of dust and not just from your computer... all throughout the room.

I kind do the same thing. I take my computer either outside or in the basement and use a compressor and blow it out. Maybe 60-80 PSI from 1 foot away really moves out the dust out, although it is very little.

I mean anti.... not clean, guys :| How did you do to reduce the dust income flow at minimum :)

My real case is entirely filtered, thanks to Lian Li...and fan filters are cheap if your case is not filtered.....otherwise you could hook the whole thing up to an air purifer...and if you do , take a pic and post it so we can laught at you :toast:

I just take my rig apart whenever I can be bothered to clean the bugger :)

Filters, or if you're an airflow fanatic - compressed air can from a while to while.

Get a soft brush like the kind you would use to put BBQ sauce on your grilling food - like a small paint brush to brush dust off of everything. Then vacuum out using a small vacuum (like the kind sold for cleaning keyboards).

Those both sound like good places for static to build up.

I still would suggest compressed air either from a can or compressor every few months.

Lian-Li Filters here....

Any kind of filter is going to limit your airflow though, its a compromise. :)

take some sticky tape ,
cut lots of 1" long peices,
loop them round so they are a cylinder (with the sticky in the middle)
then put them into a ring the size of your fan and voila, all dust that *would* have gone into your computer will be stuck to the tape :D , another stupid idea from franki ...

more sensible reply:
a coffee filter might work as it has small holes it will not let any dust through , although it would also cause air to not go through properly
like oasked said , you have to find a good compramise , a little dust is ok , but alot is bad

charcoal pre filters are what I'd use if I didn't just blow the dust out every couple of months.

I dun have a dust problem at all. The problem is not the dust but your computer. Move it to a less dusty area.

elevating the case 12" usually reduces dust substancely...
