rite now all im using is the specified amount of water wetter for the amount of water in my system, which is only a couple capfuls
will this kill growth of algae? or should i add another additive?

I wouldn't even use it. Overtime is deposits on everything and leaves a hell of a mess in your system. Its great for a few months, but in the long term its a PITA.

Best prevention you can do it to let the water flow.

well i guess if u have ur system on 24/7 algae growth isnt much of an issue, but not many of us leave it on ALL the time.

DO NOT use Water Wetter, stains your tubing and gives you nasty smell. I still have one brand new bottle of Water Wetter that I got it a year and half ago from High Performance Racing Car :)
