Ideas Wanted

Well this being my first post I will try to make it short. My son got me hooked on Delta Force Black Hawk Down. Now I am moving on to BF2 and others. Ok the old AMD 2400 just don’t cut it any more. So I have spent the last month or so researching systems and have decided on the AMD 64 3500+ Rev E retail box. The motherboard is an Abit AV8 3Rd EYE with OCZ 3200 Platinum Edition Rev2 memory. The reason I didn’t go for the SLI system is I just bought an ATI X800XT 256mb AGP Video Card. Never could get it to work well with the 2400 so I put it in a friends computer and it ran very well on his 64 3200 754. I just want your opinion on this system. I haven’t overclocked a system in years, and not sure if I will have to, The last time I did it was an Intel P2 on an Asus board, Jumpers and Dip switch. Ok so I am Old and now with a lot of time on my hands I am ready to play. ROFLMAO Anyway any Ideas or suggestions are appreciated. Also thinking about a Raptor 74g hard drive for the Icing on this cake.

Good selection of CPU but not so good on MOBO. (well depends on perspective really). I suggest grabbing nice NF3 mobo. Gigabyte KN8 is pretty good, so is epox (I hate power connector positon on it though). MSI is hit and miss (extremely good or extremely quirky), DFI people like but personally not much at all (Yeah, I had one, and it died on me very quickly and it is getting used for parts... DFI at least do put some nice parts on it for me to cannibalize...)
Little read up could help you a LOT here.... best of AMD should have any relavant somewhat old info you need. As for memory, I suggest going 2gig as BF2 loves it.
