An X2 will work fine with xp home. The liscencing is done by the number of sockets and home can use x2's just fine. The planning for dual core processors has been implemented since 1999, Microsoft has agreed with AMD that a processor is one socket. Thus you will be fine just having one xp license. And Yes home will work.

ok cool i had the same question. i used to run a dual cpu mp1900 system and xp home didnot suport that so i had to go to pro.
