Hellooooo buddies how r u.i have read the specifications of ps2 and its cpu is just 300mhz and also memory and graphic is not so powerful then how can ps2 play games like medal of honour and battlefield ??????? on the other hand i have a pentium3 system with 1200mhz cpu and a 256mb of memory plus 64mb shared vga sis and they donot play games like medal of honour ,,,,,,,,,, ?????????

It's a different architecture. Also, the PS2 has really powerful rendering engine, I'm not sure where you got the datasheet for it, but yours is wrong. The PS2 uses a MIPS chip.
Also, every game for a console is serverly stripped down, most will run at 3x2 (Not even the full 6x4 they have avalible because the TV is so crappy it gives them free AA) They use very low quality textures, features are made simpler, anything intensive is turned down.
Your system has no 3d rendering engine. Get a X800 XL and everything should be fine. The SIS chip is just not made for 3d and gets by though software emulation. You want more memory later on, 256MB is not nearly enough anymore. You probably should just sell your old rig for like 100$ and start all over with some sort of SLI capable motherboard and build a system around that. Anything you buy for this system is just a waste of money because no one wants AGP or SDR things anymore. I sold a AGP X800 XT for 240$ because no one wanted to pay 260$ for it, the PCI-E versions are still selling for over 300$. You can't even give SDR away anymore, I have tried.

ok now i understand that y consoles r better than my system .....
now there is a last problem in my mind that which 1 is better xbox or ps2.i have a specifications of both and also the price of xbox is little high than ps2.so compare both specification and price i have just judge that xbox have a little edge on ps2 due to nvidia graphics .................. i just want ur opinion ............ thanx

also, consoles don't need a tonne of power to play games because its pretty low resolution, and they can get away with turning alot of effects off because you don't notice them anyway since the resolution is so low.

then if i m playing game like gta 4 or 3 then which 1 has a good graphics ...

& 3-my pc ....
at that time i have no ps2 and xbox ... i m interested to purchase 1 but difficult to decide ...

the xbox will be more powerful and has better online functionality imo but the PS2 has the best games, the PS2 is still no sloutch you gotta remember this thing was designed like 5+years ago, when the pinicle of design was a gf2
BTW: i got my ps2 launch night and i'm still on the same one, testement to sonys reliability there

Choose based on the games. I know that based on your limited grasp of english while still being a native speaker you will not be programming on these things so the specs don't matter to you. At all.

ps2 has more quality games, such as rpg's that take more than 10 hours to beat.

Yep, you're right about that 6x4 thing. I use an upscan converter, which unfortunatly doesn't support anything better then the classic NTSC format (So no progressive scan or HD support for me), but it lets me run consoles on a GDM-F500, which looks alot better then even the best TV (Running without progressive or HD) because of the accuracy of the guns, normal TVs have very bad convergence and their geometry isn't great.
6x4 on a monitor looks alot better then 6x4 on a TV. Someday I will drop the money to buy a HD and progressive compatable upscan converter, but right now the game support for it is so small it's not worth my 200$, maybe when the next generation of consoles is released.

xbox has better graphics, and the harddrive creates the wonderfulness of not needing a mem. card, but seriously, i would wait till the 360 came out if u wanna get xbox

Isn't that still running on a horizontal refresh of around 14KHz? I need the converter to get the minimum 30KHz that monitors like. (Need)

if the resolution of tv is normally 640 ... then the games like rise of nations and age of mythology r also play with this res which is very low resfor these type of games ............. i think pc is better in case of these two games ...

negative - xbox has no back-ward compatability, they are lying ot you.
they wil have "patches" for "selected titles"
So you can play halo2, and maybe a few more on 360
on ps3, however, you can play good ol' ps2 and ps1 games :)

from different sources i have get the specifications of both ps3 and xbox360.the specifications r little difficult to understand 1 have a cell processor and other have a dual dual processors ....
but my question is about gpu.in ps3 there is nvidia gpu rsx runs at 550mhz with 256mb of gddr3 ram runs @ 700mhz !!! thats all right and the main ram is xdr 3.2ghz ( 256mb ).... ok
but in xbox360 the gpu is custom built by ati and have a 512mb of gddr3 runs @ 700mhz .... but where is main ram ??? i never see any main ram specification ... like in ps3 there is xdr 3.2ghz 256mb ram ... any1 have a knowledge about that then kindly post it ...

teh ps3 has a cell chip with 1 physical core, and 8 other theoretical cores,
the xbox360 has 3 physical cores, and 3 theoretical cores.
ummm i think the xbox actually has MORE ram than the ps3, cant remember tho, been a while since i seen the specs, but the ram runs at 700mhz i think.
i have attached the document which contain the specifications of both consoles ....
i know the ram in xbox 360 runs @700mhz but its gpu memory like in graphic cardzzz.and its 512mb of gddr3 ram runs@700mhz but where is main ram like in ps3 the main ram is 256mb of xdr @3.2ghz and gpu ram is 256 mb of gddr3 ram runs at 700mhz ...... :cool: :cool: :cool: :(

m$ are lying out of their rectums about the XBorks 360, I don't remember where, but I saw pic of what was behind a tech demo one at a convention, it was infact 2 Apple G5's and a dummy console, hooked up to a tv. think pic may have been on woz.org , im not sure

ps3 has x2 256mb = 512mb, one is video ram the other just ram.
xbox has 1 512mb , shared for video and ram purposes.
They both have 512 mb but ps3 just has one allocated for video the other for the other stuff.

i dont know why everyone cares about the system specs, not like we are going to be able to change any vid settings. and dont saz that one is going to look better than the other cause they will both run screen filters of some sort. btw this was typed on my psp, buy one

Don't update the firmware. There are fine homebrew browsers and web browsing on the PSP is just a novelty anyways.
Homebrew is far more valuable than 2.00. If you have a particular game that requires a newer version you can always fake it with frimware version changer. I have a "1.52" PSP that plays all games fine and still works with homebrew. Get it here (http://www.wab.com/), there's only PD content at that site, don't go there expecting to get anything other than the homebrew firmware version number changer.

but u gotta get the patches, or you gotta soft/hardmod it and get that emulator crap whcih is always fun, but then that means no xbox live
also, I saw somewehre saying it was going to be watercooled ... that confuses me, how the hell is water cooling in something that small, gonna help keep a cpu cool?
