Hi all

i just bought 4 SATA300 drives, but i dont have the SATA cables yet

now i was wondering which brand u guys advice?
does it matter alot?

i ask this cause i KNOW it does matter with ATA cables (fe: DFI NF4 included ATA cables SUCK and go broke as soon as u use them ;))

i heard coolermaster is a good brand for ATA cables... is it the same for SATA cables?

should i look specificly for SATA300 cables? or will any SATA cable be able to do SATA300 speeds?

hope someone here knows

thx

any SATA will run the SATA II, there are some fancy looking ones out there. I have found them all to be cheap and breakable regardless of which brand I have bough, so your mileage may vary

now thats a good answer :D

any advice on which brands certainly NOT to buy?

btw: i know any cable will work with SATA300 HDs, but i would also like the SATA300 functionality... dunno if u meant that by "will run the SATA II"? :)

thx

I mean they will transfer the full data required by the SATA II spec, the cables for both specs are the same.

In terms of what NOT to buy, I found anything included with an HD is not a good purchase :) . I wish I could give specific advice and what TO buy, that's the part that I think is a crapshoot.

Just make sure your super careful with attaching/removing the cables and anything should be ok. I have used the same yellow cable with my DFI board for the last 6-8 months and have not broken or messed up either connector.
