Not that I`m real proud of finding this, but I thought I would share anyway.
It use to be when you dnld`d SP2 it would check for validness of your XP install when you tryed to install the SP2 and kick out with an error if your copy wasn`t legit. Now Microsoft checks for validness of your XP before you can dnld SP2. When you go to dnld it with a legit copy of XP, dnld the redistribute one and save it to a known location. Then you can install it on ANY verssion of XP, even the hackz0rd verssions and get all the updates and security stuff that comes along with it.
