I totally forgot about the 4000+ x2 with 2x1MB L2 cache. i hope this thing will come out the same the 3800 x2 comes out. anyone got some inside infos? i'd rather get this than a 4400+ x2 :).

Hopefully the price diff between the 3800 and 4000 will be much like the price diff between 4200 and 4000, ie not a lot.
If so then I'll be waiting for the 4000 as well :)

i hope the price will be between 425-450 :). i think that's reasonable.

that will be niiiice. Though 500$ seems like a lot of bones to through down, seeing as there are used 55's going for about that on here recently

They may treat the toledo cores like the sd cores, 2.2ghz being the lowest clock speed that they will drop them to, there's a good chance they may sell cache crippled toledos as 3800's though.
Anyways just my observation, to this point they just haven't pushed any 1mb cache parts into the budget range as of yet and they may just keep them priced and spec'd for the mid to high end.

it would be a good move on amd to release budget toledo x2 like 4000 x2 with 2x1MB L2 cache. there are alot of different group of buyers of amd a64 cpus. budget buyers, enthusiasts, extreme(money to blow) buyers, mid-range, etc... I'm sure amd will sell 3800 x2 as much as they will sell 4000 x2.

The 4000+ would be a huge cost problem.
I don't see it on any distributor list yet. There was never news coverage about a 4000+. Just because the 3800+ got so much coverage, don't assume there will be a 4000+.
By having 2 x 1mb, they're going to have even lower yields, and I don't know if this is a good idea for a budget CPU. Why else is the 4400+ such a ripoff still while the 4200+ has settled into close to MSRP.

Its like everyone wanting a 3500SD with 1mb cache at 2.0ghz, did that cpu ever materialize?

While it is true that an X2 4000+ would be more expensive to produce than a 3800+, there is nothing to suggest that the 4400+ pricing is due to poor yields, rather than (more likely) overwhelming demand, as it is the cheaper 2x1MB L2 part, and many people seem to want that larger cache. Also, it has to ramp to meet demand. Time from wafer start to retail boxed part is almost 3 months, so a delay in a supply increase (from the time high demand becomes apparent) is to be expected (and isn't a sign of yield troubles.)
