I'm going to buy some TCCD modules in the next day or so and i've narrowed it down to there two just from reading other peoples results. Any reason why I should choose one over the other?

OCZ's warranty rules. For any reason something goes wrong, you can get a replacement set without hassle. OCZ is also very easy to work with on accommodations if you ever have a problem with a kind of ram. They have awesomely knowledgable support staff, including several on these and other forums that will help you tweak their products.

The ocz is A LOT cheaper last time I checked. (like $170 compared to $250+)

http://www.atacom.com/program/print_html_new.cgi?&USER_ID=www&cart_id=6456298_24_111_74_220&Item_code=MEDD_OCZT_AG_F2

They will achieve a similar top speed most likely, around 290-320 on the dfi nf4's. The G.Skill is of course rated at 275, while the OCZ is at 200...So you can't complain if you don't hit 275+ with the ocz...although I havn't seem many people that couldn't do that. The vast majority achieve at least that with room to spare if their chips mem controller and mobo can handle it.

They're both great products from the looks of it. I personally prefer the OCZ obviously for several reasons, and am looking to score a kit of 3200 rev 2 plats shortly myself when I grab a 3800+ x2 in the near future. To each their own of course, and i'm sure someone will shortly explain the key benefits of the g.skill. While I havn't personally owned any of their stuff, they get equally as good results to the ocz tccx products from what i've seen, and they have a mad tweaker of their own to help you on these forums. :)

To me if just comes down to what I see, what I know, and of course; price.

I get DDR 603+ at relatively tight timings at 2.8v or less on my plats....though your results could vary. :)

Yeah I busted out DDR604 with my plat rev2's with 2.5-4-3-5 and tight alphas great ram and absolutely amazing customer service
G.skill's might OC alittle higher though, and your garaunteed to get TCCD still from them

Well, I've heard that The plat rev 2 is now shipping with TCCD again so I'm starting to lean that direction, Hopefully it will do atleast DDR600 :p:

If you are really hoping to get DDR600, you should go with the G. Skill's. My plats are the tcc5 version. They are good, but my max is 295-2.5-4-3-8. I can bench at 300, but not too stable for anything else. I run them all day at 265-2.5-3-3-6 @2.8v. This actually benches faster than at 295. I think keeping trcd at 3, you will be able to clock higher with the G.Skill. :2cents:

OCZ's warranty rules.

That, my friend, greatly depends on which country you live. I wouldn't call waiting more than 1 month (yes I wrote it right, more than one month) for an RMA a good customer service. I don't know exactly how much time it took for OCZ to send the replacements, since my retailer offered to exchange my OCZ memories for another product. From what I've read, it seems that OCZ customer is good in the US and maybe a few countries in Europe. But not in Portugal for sure.

Concerning the choice between the OCZ Plat Rev2 and the GSkill LE, I would sugest you to weigh the price difference against the difference in warranted speeds. Unfortunately there are OCZ Plat Rev2 that do not reach 275 2.5-3-3. Sure this is not a common thing, but has happend.

Paraphrasing OCZ reps here at XS, if you buy OCZ Plat Rev2 you are buying DDR400 memory. If you get more than that be happy. If you don't you have nothing to complain about.

well, there's always the new OCZ plat 4800 plat. elite edition for another choice. it is guaranteed to be TCCD chips and can do ddr600 at 2.5-4-4-10 and ddr400 2-2-2-5 (dual spec)

my rev 2 tcc5 is running 295 2.5-3-3-7 right now 2.83v 32m stable. they can do 300 2.5-4-3-8 32m stable at 2.73v also. used default multi (9) on each test

biopc has another amazing set of tcc5 , which is running 308 2.5-3-3-7 32m stable if i remember from his thread.

just make sure you have a good mem controller and board and they should clock fine. :)

Can't really complain about my 4400 LE, too bad I got a bad memory controller :(

I have had both sets and my Gskill clocks just a little bit higher (315) than my OCZ plat did. Both sets had TCCD so it is just the difference in luck on how they clock. If you want some that will do 300+ you should buy sticks rated for that. Either the Gskill 4800 or the OCZ 4800 special edition. The price of either set is very high but if they dont clock as advertised you can get them replaced.

I had early revision OCZ rev2 tccds. And 1 stick totally sucked, maxed out at 265htt :slapass: The other stick was doing better, could do SP 32M at 300htt 2.5-3-3-6. Anyway dual channel needs 2 sticks. This is just my bad experience. I know newer tccds are better.
Now I have Gskill LE 4400 and I can run stable SP 32M 300htt 2.5-4-3-6. :toast:

wow

that TCC5 is some nice stuff huh ? hhmm i might have to look into this.

but i also can agree tha the gskill is higher priced but they too have a lifetime warrenty and great service.

the LA is guarenteed by gskill to do 303mhz on a DFI nforce 4 board but only 2T but everyone i see runs 1T
but then again many LE owners are going over 310mhz with theirs @ 1T

personally... ive had the LA and the Plat and didnt have good results with either. mine was the Plat Rev 3 TCCD and hit a dead zone at 265 the LA went higher but still had issues. it had to of been the DFI UT 250gb... ya think ? lol. but then again i did test it on a DFI 875P-T and it hated both mem's.

Its definately a tuff call but if you can get someone to guarentee you get TCC5 and they overclock that good wow yeah go for it!
