I gotta say, when I looked at xp and xp pro, I wasn't very impressed, but now using it... MS seems to be straightening up it's act on the tech side of things. It's stable, loads in ~ 5-10seconds, and has some very nice "little things". For example. I'm running on a pci card now, because all my pci-e's are dead (one died while troubleshooting, the other was damaged in shipment)... and ATI apparently decided that video cards that were being sold through dell less than a year ago (rage 8meg pci) don't need support for modern O/S. Good to know the next time I consider buying a top of the line card (of which brand?) for someone who plans to keep the system for awhile. Anyhow, Windows calls it a "standard pci vga adapter", but can recognize the gpu, bios and supported resolutions (so I can run 1280x1024x24bit on a standard vga). The only thing it doesn't seem to support is adjusting the refresh rate (sadly it defaults to very very low, but it isn't too annoying for the minor desktop work while I wait for my 6800 to arrive.)
