Evil Spork3: power outage looked like it took out my PCP&C psu... then now my ocz600 is doing the same thing!!!
Evil Spork3: power btn = fans twitch.. and the power led and ram led n the mobo stay on
Evil Spork3: theni hold pwr btn and they go off
Evil Spork3: then after that i click power and nothing happens
Evil Spork3: the odd part:
Evil Spork3: odd part is my comp worked with the ocz600 for a week or 2
Evil Spork3: then started random shut downs
Evil Spork3: where the power led stays on
Evil Spork3: then went to the "wont start" stage again
Evil Spork3: but it worked fine for over a week, then went back

for ease of not typing it again.... so wtf is wrong with it?!
i swapped mobo and cpu and still the same twitch followed by nothingness and power led staying on.

the comp is on a good surge.. it didnt trip during the outage. all my other equipment plugged into it work fine. i swapped A/C cords and plugs on the surge when i swapped from the PCP&C to the ocz psu.

isn't this the same way the board was behaving when we were benching the 4000 on DI?

maybe corrupt bios again? try a hotflash?

Could there be any damaged components shorting out the PSU?

this is my everyday rig... the barton. and i used 2 cpus and 2 mobos, all the same.

thats why im so freakin confused.

the 4000 with DI has a short somewhere i think... this sounds the same but how could that be when it worked fine for 2 weeks?

I meant, components of the computer, not the PSU. If you indeed did get a surge passing through your surge protector, it might've surged something in your computer. It's a wild guess though.

well.. everythign else on my surge and in that socket is fine. heck everything else in my room is fine.

i did check the components as i swapped the mobo and cpu AND psu.

the only common parts are the case, hdd, and vid card. with no ram in the system it does the same thing.. it should at least stay on with no ram installed.

I just want to clarify so I am understanding correctly, you have used 2 different power supplies, and 2 different motherboards with same issue on both correct? That mean you have the same RAM, CPU, and video card, correct? I read you have tried without RAM, have you tried without video card? I know you wont see anything on screen, but you should at least be able to tell if system is posting. Also is it the same CPU you have been using? I would recommend swapping CPUs if you have a spare, it could be that as well. Basically strip it down to ONLY MB, CPU and PS, dont connect drives or anything else, also make sure you have no external devices plugged in (USB, parallel, etc.) If you are still having same issue with both MB with both PS's then the only point of failure you have left to test would be swapping the CPU. Hope this helps you out.

almost... i changed the cpu with the mobo change too. i removed all ide devices, ram, vid card, and there are no pci devices. with nothign but cpu psu and mobo, the problem persists.

Well I really dont know what to say at that point then, the only other thing I could recommend if you have another system available, would be to swap in each component individually and see if any one by itself causes a POST failure, that seems to be your only route available at this point, good luck to you, remember the most important part of troubleshooting to identify a specific issue is being methodical. If you swap 5 parts at once, then how will you know which 5 fixed or caused the problem, you follow?

Hope I helped a bit at least, take it easy bro.
