it seem like dell is tearing it up on lcd(which are very good) and video cards. could they end up being a major online computer parts store in time? they get all the good stuff first(except amd) because of volume.
i would hate to think of another walmart type store in the computer hardware business.

Walmart always has low prices. Dell is a ripoff for everything that isn't currently on sale / couponed.
Yup, now they sell at or near cost, drive a hard bargain with thier vendors and manufactures due to massive volume and eventually Dell will conquer the desktop, laptop, and LCD markets worldwide.
I don't think they'll ever be a serious threat to servers or printers which call for specialized support and directed focus.

Umm every month I get two 70 page glossy color brochures of sales and coupons. (so does everyone else)

That's true, but how many people are aware of these coupons. Not everyone looks at deals forums (and the deals in their flyers usually aren't anywhere near as good as the coupon stacking/minimum config of discount boxes that we buy) but the dumbest consumer amoung us can walk into Walmart and see that a box of fifty rolls of paper towels for $1.50 is a good deal. Dell has some steals if you keep your eyes open, but lacks the appeal (and control over the market) of walmart.
