View Full Version : BF2 Tips and tricks "SCORE MORE!!!!!"

I'm not really a bad gamer... but I'm not good.
I have like 10 hours in the bank and I'm at like 780points and only 2/3 way to Lance Corporal. i have Purple Heart, Anti Tank/Armour and Assault badges.
My average map is about 10 kills and 15 deaths, add a few flag captures, defenses and assists for a total of 30-40 points per map, although I've had plenty of maps with like 4 points or even -4 points.
90% of the time in head to head engagements I get dropped first.
What can I do to be better??
I've noticed one thing in my pathetic playing that frustrates me so I know it works:
1) Keep moving! Every time I'm a sniper I can't hit running soldiers... run to cover, run to cover...
2) The heavy MG rocks. When possible, mount up the 50cal on a HMMV or the HMG on a Chinese APC and stand off from a check point at 50m. Just pummel the checkpoint as the soldiers scurry around. But jump out after maybe 5 or 6 seconds or some AT guy will find you. But it should be worth 2-3 kills.
Let's see the tips/tricks!!! Not purely "scoring" tips, but "killing" tricks!!

Oh and a question mixed in:
On my keyboard when I need to hit pageup or pagedown to vote, it doesn't do anything. I've tried hitting numlock... it's a USB kb...?????
And how do I type a message??
Like "You step on a mine and you want to kick me??"

'Dunno I was just playing and heard the "music" and looked down to see the graphic and message?? I don't know what I did??
I probably got shot a lot, that's what I do best :D

you get a purple heart by having a k/d ratio of 1/4 5 kills and 20 deaths being the lowest. as for typing press J for all, K for team and L for squad. as for tips...ummm tip one as soon as you hit lance corporal unlock the g36 for spec, dont bother with any other assault rfles for now. the easiest way to kill first is to keep your gun on single fire unless your running down narrow places, i have a logitech mx510 mouse or something like that, i binded the number 3 to one of my buttons on the left side, this makes it so if i need to pull my weap quickly..... push the button, if i need to change fire rates....push the button
1) Keep moving! Every time I'm a sniper I can't hit running soldiers... run to cover, run to cover...
same here it seems like you almost have to lead the bullet, but that never works either. sniping is all about waiting. for instance almost 100% oof the time when 2 enemies see eachother they drop and fire. wait for an enemy to see someone else and drop, then blast him in the face. thats all i do and i get 15-20 kills sniping. also trick around with the caymores. if someone is chasing you, run around a corner and drop one instant humiliation.
also whenever possible gram some armor, i can easily get 100+ points a round with a tank because its so damn powerful. in bigger maps have 2 engineers ride side by side in armor since they repair anything within a radius they will repair eachother.
blackhawk=rape
mec chopper=death
on mastuur city jump in a blackhawk and fly over the mosque (center flag) drop out onto the roof and go prone next to the wall closest to the flag, you will cap it and no one will be able to find you.
c4 tricks
if you can sneak up on a tank and plant c4 on it dont blow it right away unless its necessary, wait for it to get next to other enemies/vehicles and detonate, easy points
after capping a main flag throw c4 everywhere, in bushes, shadows you can put them ON the flag. once you see the flag go neutral blow em up and retake the flag.
antitank rifle=usless while prone it takes me a whoe clip to kill someone, whereas my pistol will do it with 4 good shots, ignore the rifle.
medic/support
drop every :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::b anana: pack you have if you have a pack in your inventory you arent doing your job. best place is to lay em all out next to flags.
assault
ALWAYS have your m203 out if you miss the guy but get close, he wont be able to see his face flying away.
thats about all i got right now

wooohooo!
good tips...
Does the game allow 1-shot kills to the head? Seems like I still have to shoot someone 3x in the head too...
found a guy hiding on top of the ore conveyor in the mining map and from behind put 3 in the helmet with the suppressed 9mm.
And some of these chopper pilots are GOOD, I mean REALLY good, I see them buzzing around capturing flags and blasting anything that moves. Must use joysticks or GP's.
I like hanging out at the AA dual launcher and hunting choppers... until I get killed, of course.
And SillySider03, just because I can OC and bench doesn't mean I don't SUCK at playing games!!! ;)

LOL...I would have never guessed.
I also have a hard time with the 1 shot kill. Even at close range it seems to take 2 or 3 shots to take a guy down with the shotgun. I think they factor in the amount of armor a guy wears (some wear more than others)...
There is also a few awards that are fairly easy to get. I think the Basic Armor badge requires you kill 10 people in 1 round - not that hard in a tank. You can get the Basic Ground Defense by manning a TOW/HJ-8 missle station - I am pretty sure it is given by time spent using it, not kills. Same with the Basic Air Defense, except use the stingers.
Can you tell I am addicted? wOOt! Time to go shoot some faces and kick some livers - WHO'S WITH ME?!?!? /shoots make believe gun into the air
BTW, did you ever get 1280x1024 to work? I posted the info in the other thread and was just wondering if you tried it yet...Anyway, keep your head down and good luck!
Yes, 1280 x 1024 works perfectly as instructed, thank you!
Believe it or not, the little bit of extra resolution helps my aiming, my screen is a bit more crisp at 1280...

mmmm... great site!
I don't understand how you fly helo with a mouse. For me it is SOOOO unreactive and "out of control...."
Maybe I need to practice flight on SP mode.
Oh I forgot another fun thing I did last night. At the refinery I was runing around on a fuel tank roof and as spec op and sniping with the laser dot on the m4 and tossing c4 down onto armor, lol... teh c4 really works well!
One mistake they made on BF2 was the lack of an AA kit...
PLUS they shouldn't have given the MEC such advanced weapons, look at the ME now and the conflict... they have AK's and IED's with RPG's mixed in... not T-90's lol...

All I can say for your sniping problem, is try to aim a foot ahead of them when they are normally running, and 2-3 Feet when they are using the sprint. Always aim for the head though, If you aim for the chest they will know there is a sniper and will duck for cover.
I'm either sniper, or Heli pilot. I ALWAYS pull great scores, unless a TKer starts to piss me off and I get angry..

Why dont you take a ride in the APC, when you are having a hard time on the ground.
Just stay on the move, and go for long range targets, it has an incredible range.

Yeah, I'll try that along with the engineer kit, so I can repair the APC. Cuz what usually happens is that I get hit cumulatively with 2 or 3 AT rounds and then blow up... engineer kit would help a lot!

Use single fire, all the weapons are sooo much more accurate this way. Full auto or burst is only for very close quarters, even then i use single. i can use 3 shots to the chest and they drop, but if i go full auto 50% of the time they dont die.
For me i always score good as a medic.theres just something about running around with a med pack and reviveing people while your getting shot at that excites me. i think people need to find the role they play best and stick with it and use it properly.
I see to many people running around as support or engineer who dont pay attention and play thier role, know your role.
However playing a different kit that you arent really to good at to fill a void in your team is good too. Sometimes when we are about to loose a flag ill spawn as whatever is needed to get it back. So if theres a tank around and everyone is getting wasted i spawn as engineer or anti tank.
People that take off in an empty helo no not the meaning of teamwork, same for transports and other multi passenger vehicles. You actually get points for moving people around.
Attack helos are always more effective with a gunner on board.
An easy way to pick up points is to be an engineer and jump in a black hawk, when its taking fire repair away and watch the points mount up.
In the end though the best team players (those that know how to effectively use thier kit) are the ones who get the most points. That is why sticking with one kit until your at your best with it helps.
This game is definetly the most addictive game i have ever played.

purple heart is something u don't want. i believe its being 1:4 k:d over the course of a round.
i don't play a lot, but in head to head i do very well. i have a background in counter strike so i am very accurate.
the only time i get killed, is when people go prone and stuff and pop back up, makes it very difficult to focus on them. so try doing that in head to head engagements, go prone and duck and stuff.

Well I'm doing a bit better today... up to L. Corporal with the G3. I have a better kill ratio now. The G3 rocks. Now if there was only a laser sighted G3. I had a GREAT game at mashtuur city a few minutes ago, the MEC would hole up in the streets waiting for armour, but I'd pull up short of them in an M1A1, by about 300m and just perpper them with MG and cannon fire. Blindly I'd pick corners and alleys and just hammer them... every time I'd get a kill streak of about 6 or 7 until one got me.

I unlocked the g3 too even though i hardly play as assualt. Only downfall to that rifle is it's small magazine. Other than that its a canon. Next i think ill unlock the medic's wep since i play that alot.

If only I had a toilet for a desk chair and a snack tray for my food I wouldn't have to stop playing BF2! err... ok kidding. It's really not just to play with my sorry butt, it's just somewhere a few of us might manage to collide.
I really need to improve and while it was coming along, Im back to thinking it should be coming to me faster. Guess my experience comes in the twitch shooter. I attributed it to many people's much longer attention span for BF1942. Even CS guys I think and so forth have an edge on me. I am going to exercise patience and walking a little tighter from cover to cover. Hard at practicing patience.... you try and if ya still get killed a few times, well... postal rage springs forth again. I don't know if other people need to "go back to the basics" like I do, but I really have to think more about every time I could be exposed at too many angles.

If you play medic a hint for you there are quite a few places you can drop down and not die and heal yourself as you go to next flag. This makes your on the foot moving speed up to twice faster than any other class. Blitz the flag nade before going in, drop packs at flag than guard it viciously. It works quite well.

exactly why i love medic. If im about to die in a fire fight i just retreat, throw medic bag in front of me and charge back in, almost always surprises the attacker.
1. more stamina
2. good rifle
3. nades
4. health packs
Only downside is no body armour, if you work the cover should be fine though

I like playing Spec Ops, this kit is only effective in close range so it is a must to sneak around for most of the time. Not travelling on the main roads, staying away from the heat of the battle ... this makes this kit most efficient. I usually make sure the enemy's artillery and radar are out very early in the round, and capture/hold remote flags on the map. It's even more effective when you're the commander and use the UAV all the time to scout around you, especially when you're hidden behind a building in a enemy base and know exacly where and how many enemies have surrounded you ... one grenade and few silenced pistol shots can help you take out 2-3 enemies pretty easy. C4 is a terrible weapon if used correctly, one tank in a city map is almost helpless against that, you either sneak up on it and place 1-2 charges or place them on the ground before it and when it passes over them, boom! ... no tank.
On 1vs1 encounters the best bet is to prone right away and shoot small bursts or even fast single shots .. if it's a tank and has spotted you or you're outnumbered just run for cover, you probably don't have the chance to take out not even one of them before getting shot.
einCe
07-28-2005, 03:35 PM
tip number one, NEVER run to a tank to c4 it, 9/10 times it will kill you.
tip number two, car bombs, take a buggy+2 c4 drive at a tank, jump out. the car will roll into the tank and you blow c4.
tip number three, get a quick vehicle and drive straight into an enemy base, put 2 c4 on every vehicle you see......wait. i did this and got about 30 c4 kills in one round getting me my last badge :D
Micutzu
07-28-2005, 04:16 PM
Well i've had much better luck with C4 on tanks ... just approach them only from the back and not in open field ... the turret is moving to slow so if it's facing the other way, you usually have time to get close and C4 it before it could turn. The gunner on top might cause you problems though.
I'll try running a bombed car into a tank though, sounds like fun :).
i do that with the blackhawks....just get in seat 5 or 6 and blow the c4right before she hits the ground.....ive gotten pretty good at calculating when to switch
charlie
07-28-2005, 04:51 PM
If you don't manually BLOW the C4 how long is the "fuse"???
What do you mean get in seat 5 or 6 and blow before hit's ground??
And I need to figure out a way to score 2 or 300 points per rounf otherwise it'll take forever to make progress... HOW to do it?????

Another fun tactic on Dalian Plant, Get the AZ-10 (People's Repub. Attack Heli) and land it on the Arty post for USMC. Get in the gunners seat and use the Laser-Guided missle to rape anyone that try's to get a vehicle off the carrier. I made 215 pts. in a 64-man server in one round. Only 3-deaths the whole time, and that was when I decided to go off and cap some flags. (God damn Stingers :brick: )

I find sprinting up to tanks with C4 works 8/10 times....sometimes you have to run back for a second until they get distracted but it almost always works...plus sometimes you just gotta blow your self up as well to kill the tank.....
if your a good quality player you shouldn't be afraid to take a few for the cause....sometimes you just gotta die :)
my favorite classes are medic and spec ops....with medic i always try to find the best choke points and just heal and revive away...the medic is the most fun when your teams getting reamed because sometiems you'll get 7-10 revives in a row because they're getting slaughtered....the rush of sprinting right in front of a MG nest and reviving people is awesome even if you get killed doing it.

Your opinion is wrong because the pump shotguns do more damage than the Jackhammer and the MEC shotty per pellet. ( i am not sure where the anti-tank's unlockable stands)
Although you can do way more damage in a couple seconds with the jackhammer because it only takes that long to fire all 7 of it's shots.

Well, choppering can actually make 100 quite easy. I'm not very good but with a squad full in the blackhawk, our pilot has gotten as much as 300 pts, and the rest of us into the 200 region. I don't do it often, it can be kind of a bore. I usually play the engineer role here, continuously fixing. We also have a support guy to re-ammo us, so when I'm not fixing my job is to essentially "spam" mines, and others do grenades! The blackhawk of course having the phatty side guns to help out makes it our favorite. You get shot you spawn back in on our pilot. Hats-off to our pilot for keeping us out of trouble, only get shot down a couple times a round at most, and then alot of those we don't even die, bail! Most of the buttload of points are assist points though as well capping flags and such. The feeling is getting the points before they nerf it! Even though we are usually MEC's, we use the equivalent chopper and tend to steal the blackhawks. :D
There always seems to be another team doing it but they usually aren't getting as many points. I think they probably aren't dropping as many mines or something. The vent server really helps us spot those ATV's, it's not all just mine spam. Careful with grenades, they can bounce in if you mess up! ALso, C4 is a big no no for this, I think you eventually get one stuck on ya. If you think your elite go ahead but when you team kill 5 guys dont say i didn't warn you! I guess communication and experienced at chopper whoring can pay off. Do love spamming a base full of vehicles full of AT mines though! ATV's take note!
Hey the game by letting you do it and there point system encourages it. If a chopper is flying by and mines aren't flying out either there are repairs going on, or the guys isnt doing his job. If there is no engineer or support then thats just a bad blackhawk squad. What should I do shoot my shotgun? oBviously we let up a little bit if it's all our infantry around or soemtimes in barren spaces. The red skulls tend to keep our teammates from being harmed. The side gunners will get 20 or so kills and we'll get all the assist though.

i kjow how to take down blackhawks, since they are notoorious for capping flags, put all 5 c4's on top of the building where the fag is(if you can reach it) or as high up on something as you can...the blast WILL catch them.

Hiding behind tank works only in flag capture scenario with someone who isn't paying attention. I usually end up killing about 2-3 spec ops before getting blown up by C4 capturing a flag... (definitely not a good point for your team...) It's actually quite simple for tanks... constant moving around the flag. Vigilance (there are only 2-3 direction spec ops will ever come through on just about all flags) and if you see someone running away... chase him with tank... (road kill). It actually explains why i have so many roadkills with armor lol...
however, the vehicle one has gotten me quite a few times... i look at it rolling hit button to get outta tank... and it blows me up regardless :P Only thing is... I hate spec ops who wants to hog fast buggy right from start of game. They are going for kills and not flags and ultimately starve the team of vehicle available. (making us lose)

I dont have this game, but once my PC is stable enough to ru na game ill buy it.
Coming from a CS background I must admit that allot of the game is ping and tweaking..
Anything like this in BF2?
Seems like there are more tactics than CS .. Thats more awareness of the opposition and accurate shooting. Or insane shotgun skills ... I can kill 8 in a row some rounds if I get the jump on them :D

Well awareness as in same sense. You win by out predicting. Think closest game other than BF in tactics would be unreal 2004... :P Few things, camping on BF2 will only get you so far as you will be picked off quickly enough and become someone's favorite b*tch. What I started doing on few maps that you don't have 100% secure base (like the map where Mec has all points but any of them can be captured) is get on tank as commander, constant vigilance on scanning, etc. When someone try to breech lines, etc on the half of map outside of front line, drive in, kill it, secure the flag. Really don't get much score by doing this but it ALWAYS leads our team to victory as long as actual combat going on is on even terms. Had pleasure of playing last night with few good squad leaders who stayed vigilant and we probably gave US team only about 4 flag captures total (which were taken back almost immediately). Once that happens in such map, artillary pretty much seals the deal as there are obvious pattern of enemy approaching to front line from single base.

Couple of little tips:-
Try firing the M203 grenade launcher into the Blackhawks, you'll never take out the pilot that way, but you can kill the passengers easily. The machine guns on Hummers and the MEC jeeps are great for taking down copters, they rip through them like butter and will usually scare off all but the very best chopper pilots.
When playing as spec ops always rig a CP with C4 after you have capped it, then go and join the battle, if you see that CP gets neutralized by the enemy detonate the c4... Killed entire squads that way several times.
Don't forget to pop smoke while using tanks & APCs... Fire a shot, pop smoke, reload out of sight, rinse & repeat.
If your squad's medic gets killed don't forget you can use his pack to revive him and your other team mates.
When using Stinger missiles never fire at Jets as they almost never hit save the missiles for choppers and only ever fire them just after their flares have subsided. I find the missiles work best when the choppers are flying away from you.
If an enemy squad is taking down one of your CP's keep an eye out for explodable barrels or gas canisters by the flag, they have huge splash damage and are great for taking out squads. 5 shots is usually enough to blow one up, more with a pistol.
Sorry if these tips are a little basic but it's all I could think of.
Oh forgot this:-
To uncap framerate use this console command:- game.lockfps 999 (The default setting is game.lockfps 100)

It's good only when you are outnumbered and pretty skilled, otherwise it's not very effective. It takes long to switch to it, it has pretty long cooldown rate and you have very limited ammo.

I just had what seems to be most exciting round of BF2... Evenly matched team where things were fiesty just about whole time. When I drove armor, it felt like every other enemy was using AT kit or Engineer. When I am running in ground, it felt like everyone of them had nade tossing at me :) was only 15 vs 15 but it felt like I was engaged in 32 vs 32!!!
Very evenly matched game too where no one had definite advantage on flags as it kept switching back and forth very rapdily all over the place and boy, did the teams work together well against each others!!! First one ended 0-7, 2nd round ended 21-0.
I need to find more games like that to horn my skills. Definitely made me glued to monitor for those 60 minutes :)

I got my first 6x kill the other day!
Dude was hovering in the blackhawk, full of troops, I had SRAW... put round #1 into the side blowing 2 dudes out of the helo, and second round blows it up... 2 + 4 = 6
:D
Unfortunately I find that this game is INCREDIBLY time consuming. It's very addictive and I can't have something in my life that consumes 25-30 hours per week.
Plus, It'd take me FOREVER to even get my second weapons unlock, I'm just shy of 4k points now... after 80 hours in the book.
I tried my hand at commander last night, lost 4/5 matches :(
It's pretty tough... much more difficult than when you get killed by arty and say "sheesh, that's e-z"

i got a few tactics that get me points.
playing as spec ops:
approach enemy tanks and throw c4 at them, only need 2 lots, then run off and detonate.
place c4 on a road thats used alot by enemy armor, camp in a bush and wait for the enemy to run over the C4, then detonate.
when u take over a base on your own and u know the enemy is gonna come back to retake it, place c4 charges on the best vehicle, usually a tank, then wait for the enemy to get in the tank and then blow it up.
playing as sniper:
fire a couple warning shots at the enemy soldier to get his attention then run off, drop a claymore in the path you just ran from and wait, very embarrassing :D
put claymores near a neutral flag and wait in a bush, if it doesnt outright kill the enemy, pop a round or 2 into their heads.
when camping, err i mean laying in wait, set a few claymores around your prize sniping spot, this stops those pesky buggers who like to sneak up and cut your throat while your eyes are glued to the scope.
playing as engineer:
wherever there is only a couple entrances into your flag, be sure to lay your mines at those entrances, 2 at each entrance and 1 at the flag, then suicide and respawn as spec ops, now dot c4 around the place just incase a tank or something notices the mines and gets through, always keep 2 chunks of c4 handy for throwing on tanks and blowing them up.
i know loads more but gotta go work now, so see ya later. :)

Tips for commanding:
1) Never, ever drop artillary when your forces are in vicinity (for very obvious reasons: pissed off friendly and negative assist score which can be huge) Dropping artillary should be zoomed in for accuracy. In energetic games this is the place to use it for...
-> you just scanned and found enemy trying to convert flag that no friendly is occuping... drop it on him... he won't be moving anytime soon :) Even if it is single person, consequence of him grabbing that flag can be huge
-> you just scanned and found commander/sniper camping at same spot picking off your friendly... well time to teach him/them a lesson. You don't want them to have nice positive score for not helping their team much do you?
-> Chopter pad... Very good choice usually. Time the artillary for chopter respawn after you know when it drops... Typical sympton is one or more people running around there... Not only do you take out the taxi services... you get many kills :p
2) Scanning -> This should be up all the time. Only time I would delay is when Artillary is just about ready.
3) UAV -> should be up all the time.
-> Obvious use as usual is for congested enemy vs outnumbered solders on our side. When they are more aware, they tend to do better jobs. (outnumbered over 1:2 than forget that area unless the backups are on the way)
-> Probably easiest way to herd troops to go to the point... they want the kills :P
-> Use it for those sneaky ones when you are obviously winning the game. (They have 1 spawn left... it is quite obvious where everyone is at)
4) Supply -> This is very important thing that DOESN'T get destroyed :P
-> When tank or APC barged in middle of infantry at enemy flag, drop it between him and flag if you think he will be able to hold off a little.
-> Of course drop one when requested by squad leader
-> Drop it on broken artillary, scan or UAV. However, make sure there is no enemy spec op who looks forward to it...
Now this is how I generally play while doing above. I get into tank preferably and sit back at most important base that can be captured. Constant scan and vigilance and artillary drop. When I see red dot rushing past line of combat to capture flags that are behind my troop, I simply drive in my tank, kill the person, vechicle, etc and run back to my spot. When I am not commanding... that is what I do best as medic :P Run past enemy line, capture important flag, than progress backward to battle with "their" vehicle, etc. This type of player might not have best score but can have devasting effect on your team winning or losing. (hey I am not gonna lose 30-80 extra points...!!!)
Tips for doing this... I started using engineer when doing this and works very good as you can repair in between on tank. And do get used to shooting down blackhawk with tank... it only takes 2 hit.
One thing though, if this is not an even team and you are on losing side by far... you need to let someone else have the tank if you wish to command. I've had numerous gold commanding using this method as well as very consistant win (sometimes, not much score as our team just hammered the other team too fast... those 180-0 wins...)

I like everything there but #4...I normally play as engineer, and make it my mission to fix artillery or radar when it is taken out. When a commander drops a supply crate near them, and I spend 2 or 3 minutes coming from the other side of the map it pisses me off. Generally, if I am close enough, and see the supply crate fall near the artillery, I will blow it up with a grenade. That lets me get my repair points - and take out any C4 happy campers that may be lurking near the artillery waiting on someone, or something to fix it. The supply crates are for the troops, not commander assets - that is what engineers are for. Next time, try calling out a repair order and see what happens. Chances are an engineer will come a runnin' to fix you up - I know I would.
Half the time I get the teams who doesn't care :P
It's not common to find good engineers or teams that works with it... I hate playing engineers at time when there is only 2 flags left on our team... Drop mines to secure those bases and next thing you know.... team runs over with 3 people in car and punishes you for it... thats -12 minimum... -_-;
Playing medic I avg 40-50 pts a round. Playing engineer I get maybe 20-40 pts a round (mostly tk punishment...-_-)

Yah, they need to fix the punish system, it puts way to much power into players hands and its beeing abused.
1. If u run over a mine its your fault, period, there are bright red warning signs
there for a reason.
2. If the commander says there is artillery in your area and u see the artillery icon on the mini map, and u dont run, its your fault.
Now if someone nades you, shoots you or kills you with c4 you should have the option to punish.

What I HATE is when you come running around a corner, and a teammate hits you with a couple rounds from a M4 and knocks your health down to 1/3 then at the next corner you get winged by a single AK bullet and you drop! But the temmate doesn't get a PUNISH!

Well I'll share my most important tips I learned from Halo which is about as fundamental as you can get:
Never thrown a grenade over or beyond your enemy. If you're gonna miss, short it.
Always keep moving and mix up the direction of movement. Even surprise yourself with where you go. :)
You should constantly be looking around in all directions, can't stress that enough.
Use cover. Duh. Don't get caught out in the open.
Lead your victims! Every game is different, but most people who miss, miss b/c they aren't leading the guy enough.
SHOOT SLOWLY and make your shots count.
Don't be a stranger to powerups, if available, or other "noob" weapons that give you an unfair advantage. :)
Use your radar if you have it to detect movement by both your teamates and enemies.
Patience is a virtue, be sneaky, be smart, anticipate your enemies' moves.
Saying stuff like "pwned" or "you're a noob" makes you look immature. Be gracious both in victory and defeat.
Have fun and kick ass! It's only a game.

Well they do have a "team damage" punishment that takes 1 point away, not sure how much damage u have to do to recieve it though. I have recieved a few times on accident.
If im a medic and i tk on accident i always try to revive them immediately, its only right that u do and when a medic tks me and then runs of it only pisses me off more.

ahh...battlefield,...one thing though, those STATS are pretty annoying...I simply cant bring myself to do "the right thing" which is obviously NOT being a stat-whore and try to accumulate the most kills on the most sneaky way possible...
I once scored 124 points in one round (time limited as well) , "strike at karkand" in a tank,..almost no teamwork score (4 points or something), no capturing flags, but only using posts as a shooting range... Iff the post is finally captured (i really had no intention of taking any posts) by another team member...plant C4 and leave..."our base is overrun > step out tank, boom"...satisfying
Iff i choose to get in a tank,(i hate it when people just leave vehicles unused, not efficient) i die with it...Never leave it, just spawn at the base i got the tank from and wait 12 seconds for the tank to re-appear ...
engineer, i really really hate seeing a tank and apc with engineers in them...i almost think of it as cheating...but only when that combo is used against me obviously....
As for flying chopper, i used to leave them alone, but i once entered a server with no people in it, and started practicing landing the chopper on the crane in "gulf of oman " ... Flying the chopper is really not that hard, just practice taking flags/destroy tanks on an empty map for about an hour, and you shouldnt have to be all that emberassed when flying in a full server...(just dont use a wire-less mouse..ufcking frustrating), and iff all you do is flying chopper, you should get real good in no-time ... But only flying chopper tends to get a little boring, no man to man fights...i like ground a little better ...
stats suck, i have 2 accounts, one for stat-whoring because i dont want to "mess up" those stats..pathetic yes...., and the other for having fun (planting C 4 on arty and heli-pads at enemy base, i dont consider it base-raping when im alone without armor...right?)...
Still looking for that magical match where your team really IS a team, like Sillysider said, 4 actual squads with all different tasks..should be awesome ...
edit* oh yeah, how to become a better player...im self-absorbed ...
As for practicing flying, start your own passworded game, practice flying at all maps...mouse sensitivity...I used to play with very high sensitivity...Then i saw some pro-gamer on tv playing unreal tournament...His mouse barely ever thouched the mouse-pad...Low sensitivity (big movements with mouse) i now find to work way better...
(never tried it before) ... my mouse almost never touches the pad either now (nah, kidding..)...But I think mouse sensitivity is very underrated, u really have to test out what "your pleasure" is about that .... (off course in tank you want sensitivity high though)...
just play, and higher resolutions and insane framerates do help imo ...

car bombs - strap 3 c4 packs on a vehicle, and then all you need to do is ram it into something to set off the C4.
Great for taking out tanks and general mayhem.

lol yeah, i love the sarcastic comments afterwords as well..."suicide-rammer....brilliant" .... U can almost here em sigh in frustration ... good fun..
It's even better if you can actually jump out the car (detonator already selected) and survive the whole thing....Only to be done off course iff you approach armor from behind or "park" your bomb at a flag or something,...i like rigging enemies equipment...I always at least stick 1 C 4 on a buggy wether is my own or the enemies.... in case i see an enemie drive it later > boom....
Sometimes when you need to get out your tank for a brief moment stick some C 4 on it to act as a deadly Car-alarm... Dont ever give anything away ... well try not to that is.... C 4 , no pussy body armor > the true path (j/k)
=VOD=, that sound real formiliar,...(Ghost recon? or Raven shield? long time ago?)

Highest scores come from gunner on attack helicopters and supply gunners in blackhawk.
The key is having a good pilot and engineers in the back of the BH.
Ive killed 40+ in a single round and finished the round without one death.
Shiraqui peninsula?? MEC side. used the Mi-28 and raped the main base and surrounding spawns.
You gotta get to know the locations of anti air guns so when you enter that area you take it out first.
If a enemy jet does a fly by, it is possible to tag them with a tow missle.

Whenever I'm getting shot too often, then I change my game plan. I score best when I don't go full force at the enemy. Rather, I swing to the side, flanks, outta the main firing lane and get up on a building or obscure place and angle and set my gun to semi-auto and start picking people off or showering them with nades. This puts the enemy at a disadvantage because it either distracts them or slows them up allowing my team to have a more positive impact.
I think that is the single most important factor in playing this game...that is your position/location relative to the front lines.
If I'm a medic, then I'm always floating behind the front lines, only running up when someone falls and taking my turn at holding the line. Then I follow squad, main force and wait patiently. I've found that you can usually feel where the opp force is approaching by your falling comrade's "Medic!" call. See 3 comrades fall at once, don't go and help cause a tank or heavy armor is heading your way.
My biggest complaint is, you get NO points for taking out key structures or guns. I HATE...HATE...HATE...the showering of them big guns...I make it a point to go take them out along with the controller's box (whatever they call it). That helps my team greatly, but NO DAMN POINTS! I go and blow them up at least 3 times/game.

If you are Noob, try joining a GOOD squad with players that are doing well in the game. A great Squad Leader can be both a vital spawn point and a model player to watch on the field.

and a great person to get easy revive scores off of.
Being squad leader (=forming your own squad) can be a blast. One game, when I was really on form (first place, anyone?), I decided to form a "gods" squad and invited everyone else who was on my team who was worth their salt. Most of them either had their own squads or were members of other squads. In the next map, every single one of them was in my squad, giving us best squad by 100 points over the next one.
When you're squad leader, your life is more important. Play it safe; it's really nice to have a few good medics (including yourself if applicable) in your squad who are also capable of going for decent periods of time without dying.

What about this one,...i think ive encountered the first cheater, iff u dont believe me now:
Game starts : I'm usually one of the first that can begin,...2 gig loading goes fairly quickly...I get in the AA vehicle on Kubra dam, change my mind and get in the tank instead, just to see the Blackhawk next to me lifting 1 inch from the ground and BOOM
"[ATUK]TOM C4 bla bla" ... I was like huh? I asked him how he managed to rig our blackhawk within 10 seconds from the game start ....
He first replied "h4x" ... (< he's now obviously a kid, so my suspecions rised)
I ask him again in a normal matter because i was really surprised and he says : "my computer loads real fast, i got in plane " ....
So i ask him again: So you managed to get in a plane, fly over here, jump out and put C4 on our chopper in 10 seconds?
He didnt replie after that and i stopped asking, cause i havent seen anybody cheat in BF2 YET ....
Now there are 2 options....he was kidding about the "h4x" and the fly/fast loading bit and :
Is it possible on that base to be there that quickly by say buggy ? Meaning having 4 gigs in your uber-computer and playing on 600 x 480 everyghin lowest so you can actually outload everybody by 10 seconds ? wtf
Or something? I'm really surprised as how fast he got there...

I read that there is some cheat that allows them to switch teams at will, he may have loaded up on your team, rigged the blackhawk, switched teams on the fly and detonated.

yep its a private hack, made by a guy called clocKwize, usually used to steal the enemy's blackhawk at beginning of game to gain advantage, then spawnkill to hearts content.
clocKwize used to code mainly for UT2003/2004, but has turned his hand to CS:S and BF2 amongst other games.
Met him at a LAN once, i19 in the UK, really nice guy.

oh thats just great .... I'm sure he is a very nice guy, but he could be dangling from a noose as far as i'm concerned ....
I really don't get why anybody would want to spend days creating dumb cheats for games ... I dont see the purpose of it... ufcking nerds ...

This game and other Punkbuster enabled games are far from cheat free.
Just last month I got on a server and some hack went up 5 ranks in one round.
He made it all the way up to Sergeant Major of the Corps and only one person a can ever hold that rank per month, none have come close to it so far.Right now the no#1 player in the world is ranked Gunnery Sargent.
He pretended to be all innocent and called the people who where giving him s&*t a bunch of hackers,no one voted him off on top of that; bloddy ridiculous  .
That sort of thing makes me loose it and I started yelling insults at him.
Days like that make me want to quit gaming ...

5 ranks in one round lol...
I totally agree though, it can really piss me off as well .... little pimple-faced nerds ...
I really cant grasp why anyone would want to cheat...That's probably what pisses me off most,...What does one get out of it ? Nothing i would say, but meanwhile the game is getting ufcked up by 1 little penis-licker ...
Maybe you have to be a 14 year old ugly dweeb to get that ... Cuase 99% of "haxxorzzzz" are babies ...
Seriously, why do children cheat in games ? What's the gain? And please dont tell me "to be on top of the list" or even worse "so that other people think they are good " ... It has got to be something else, cause the above would be very retarded iff someone would actually feel better about himself iff people thought he didnt suck at a GAME ....
I'm going on the psychology tour here obviously, but it just puzzles me big-time ...
I'm probably reading way to much in this cheating thing...Its probably just that children are retards and can't aim, and their whole world* crumbles iff they get called a "n00b" .... (oh no! and ive just been thinking up my uber name: "l337-n00b-t3rm!n4t0rrr"...What will the other children think of me!!)
*world : britney spears poster and being "l33t" anonomously alone in their room till daddy comes to shut the computer down when its bed-time ...

I'm not a cheater myself...but one of my friend loves "God Mode." He tells me stuff like, "Oh yeah, I beat Farcry in one night or I beat Doom in one sitting in God mode...You gotta love blowing up a monster from within him, you know, with the ability to walk right thru walls and monsters. I can tell you how the ending is like...wanna know?"
In Vietnam (the predecessor), I was the one carrying the rocket launcher running away from the guys with the knives that wouldn't die. Running for my dear life. They only bounce back a bit @ point blank rocket in their faces....I would have to say, I don't like cheaters...ruins the game.

Finally.........It's been a while since some interesting games ... Gulf of Oman and Mashtuur city rock (!) ... (big versions) ... actually managed to some 60 frags, with barely driving the tank ...( well, some 20 of them were tank kills) ... Long and very fun matches, the ones i scored less were equally fun ...
32 players on a 64 player map ... you should all try it .... Needed a few fun games to boost my interest in battlefield again ...
This post serves little purpose, but this thread needs a boost as well imo ...

another good tip for bf2:
get a good pilot and a good gunner and yourself as the other good gunner, both gunners should be engineers, then all 3 of you get in a transport helicopter and own entire maps, just cap flags and move on to the next, everytime you get shot at both engineers hop into the back and repair while the pilot makes a getaway, with 2 guys repairing the chopper is fine again in a couple of seconds.
i racked up 140 points in a match last night like this, only shot like 4 people, rest of points were flag capping and repair points.

Mainly mashtuur city ... ? Small chance it was you in that chopper, but would be kinda funny though hehe ...

^^ ok, just checking ^^
And yeah, (martinx), i get kicked off servers a lot lately due to "offensive language" ... pff wtf ...
I said f-u-c-k ONCE by accident on one of them and got an instant kick,..
I'm not sure what is happening with all these clan servers, but the "no swearing" is really getting a trend ...
Not worth playing on a server where you cant type ":banana::banana::banana:! lol" every once in a while ...
So yeah im also avoiding clan servers more nowadays...I want to SWEAR Goddamnit!

I always start about 9-10 seconds ahead of average joe on new map loading if not more. (I give up on taking on transport chopper in this case and drive off etc) Now on reloading of map, such isn't case.
I find i get more points by aiming for the body on runners, if i dont get 2 shots in, then i get points for the dmg when someone else finishes him off :)
