Got my 1700+ at 2 ghz right now, at 2.0v (MBM reporting 2.06v).

If I pull it out and close a bridge or two, I can get it up to 2.2 or 2.3V, but is that too much?

I'm running at like 36 idle/40 load right now, so my temps aren't TOO crazy... but when it ran at about 25 degrees, stock, it's a big difference.

I have run my 2400+ Tbred B at 2.32vcore for extended periods with no problems. This is with watercooling to keep the temps around 35c. As long as you have good enough cooling, higher voltage should be ok.

Noone can tell you what's too much or not.
Everything higher or lower than default can cause instability. Higher van cause damage to the internal cirquit of the chip.

every chip can take more than the default but how much more ...
Electromigration is a slow process so mostely you can run your chip overvolted for a while but agian, how long depends on the particular chip. No chip is identical. So it's verry hard to tell how much is to much :)

If you want to be sure you shouldn't go past 10-20% of the original value. I think that would be a very safe margin. everything more wil result in lifespan shortening or even cpudeath :D

Personally I ran a Duron 600 @ 1Ghz and 2.3V for month's before I crushed it with a maze2 :( But I also know people who ran the same type of cpu at 3V and the chip started to cause blue screens after a few weeks so ...

Edit: Better cooling only slows down electromigration a bit but it doesn't stop mosfets getting killed in your cpu :)

I wouldn't go higher than 2v for long period (even no more than 1.9v), athlon likes voltage (not like intel) but with 0.13µm process they can't handle the voltage as well as the xp

Oh well, I work for a computer shop, so I can always return it and take a new one, then RMA the busted one. I'll consider this an experiment :)

Heck, if it dies, I might get back a 1700+ B, if the B cores trickle down that low.

For extended use, I would say 2.25 max, unless you've got some serious coolin ;)

I dont go over 1.9V for any length of time.....only just for benchmarks :D
