I'm about to buy a intel cpu and I've thinking about either a 2.0a or an 2.4, 2.4B which one is better for oc'ing and what is a good mb for oc'ing. Looking for something that can get to 3ghz, with my watercooling setup.

1.8A.
Forget 2 or 2.4. Atm they are crap OCers. The good ones are either sold out or not selling yet :p

2.4B (preferably w/ C1 stepping) is clearly the best choice out of those three CPUs.
a 2.4B combined w/ a mobo like EPOx 4PEA or Abit IT7MAX2 v2 + some high quality DDR RAM (XMS3200,3500, Twinmoss 3200 etc) should give you one nice rig :)

I hope they have good 2.4B C1's in your areas, guys :p Cos in Australia they are all crap :p I haven't seen any good 2.4B C1 on Overclockers Australia (though there are many of those...). A very recent example: Creative got a 2.4B C1 SL6EF and it couldn't even do 3GHz in a Vapochill PE :p

2990mhz for 3dmark and 3060mhz for entry into windows for a screenie.....needed to pump max volts in bios to it to be stable for 3dmark.....POS cpu....:(

I just got in a bo stepping 1.8a pack date 11-15. Factory heatsink!!!!!!! and 1.7volts it make it to 3078mhz stable.
I've tried it in my vapo, it wont go over 3100 stable, more volts than 1.7 doesnt help either even up to 2volts.
Forget about the 2.0a. I've had probably 8 of them in my hands, only one would do 2.9, The last one i got wouldnt even do 2.2 stable.
Get the 1.8 and save a few $$$'s.

Fark man awesome CPU ! :D Can I have that ? :p
Btw I think it's the mobo holding you back. The TH7-II isn't a good one for OCing CPU (i know you got your 2.8 to 3.6 but it would go higher in another board ;) ). Ask macci ;)

Me too...the last few B0 1.8's I got did 3GHz on the stock heatsink as well. What's dumb is, the last 2.66 C1 I got wouldn't do 3GHz stable.
It really is a crapshoot right now...

And HERE (ftp://download.intel.com/design/Pentium4/specupdt/24919930.pdf) you find the latest P4 Specifications updates from Intel, including all SL codes.
