I have an xp2400+ and a 8RDA+ with some old pc2100 ram which runs fine @ 166Mhz. The first thing I did after flashing the bios was set 12* 166Mhz and enjoyed the same fsb as the 2600+. I think my memory has done admirably. I want to push the cpu at bit. I tried 150 * 15 (default) @1.85v = 2250Mhz. I have a AIUGB core which would probably do a bit more. My load cpu temps seems to be 25 deg c at that speed. I have an outside mounted rad to thank for that.

Well now you know the background. My question is why are only the default 15 and 12 multipliers available? Nothing inbetween which is what I need to stretch my cpu while keeping the 166Mhz memory speed. I have the 8RDA2C10 - I know their is a c16 version but I got c10 from the epox website as an official bios to unlock the tbreds.

"Added Athlon XP 2600+ support (166*12.5). Added Athlon XP 2400+ support (166*12). "

I will double check the 12.5 *. This is the first I heard of only being able to select a few multipliers.

I guess what I want to hear is that the c16 bios or later will unlock all the multipliers.

Thx for your help.

All I know is I have a revision 1.0 board and the c16 bios is no good for me. No matter what I do everytime I change the fsb it goes back to 100mhz.. I've tried flashing it 4 times, and tried for over a good hr to get it to work....... nothing. At AOA forums I had a discussion about this, and I think it may be the rev. 1.1 boards that allow the multi changes ( i can change mine, just not past my default of 12.5- galifrey has a 2700 and he can go higher than his default multi, but he has the same problems as me).
So it SEEMS like the ver 1.1 allows that bios to adjust to all multi's ( according to some that have that revision ) while my 1.0 will not.

I have two multipliers available (12 and 15 default). How about you? I have a xp2400+ (just changed my sig).

Do you use the c10 with successful fsb manipulation? I have no problems here. I will check around 12 multiplier.

Edit: I checked from *10 to *12.5 and they all work. Ofcourse *15 default is also available but nothing from 13 to 14. This crippled bios is really crazy. Why leave out the multipliers!

With c10 it give an option to flash from alt-F2 - I will probably do this is a minute! Wish me luck!

I just downloaded c12 dated 11 dec 2002 via magic bios. No word on fixes/multipliers. Says I can flash from windows! Stuff that.

I had c10, and went to c12 first then to c16. The only difference between c10 and c12 is that it removes some PnP options from the bios, and it removes alt-F2 flash function (handy).

I flashed to c16 using awardflash "8rda2c16.bin /py/sn/cd/cp/e". Read the readme that comes with the award flash utility and I used the one I downloaded from epox's website included with the c10 bios (earlier versions will make your mobo dead!). The update function included with c10 cannot work for a bios not named c10. I thought about renaming it but I came to my sences!

Just to clear this matter up. I wanted *13 to *14.5 multiplier and c16 gives you this (well so far I tested only *13 :D).

I dont think folks are having problems with the 2400.. it's the 2600-2700/333 that seem to be a problem. It also seems like some folks that have revision1.1 rda dont have these issues...........I use winflash myself... I copied winflash and the system file that goes with it to my harddrive folder that stores all my bios's....... works like a charm, and have flashed it about 20x so far.
Before I use winflash I set everything to default speeds and voltages.

Um - doesn't my sig say xp2400+? I don't know what rev board I have. Just out of interest how can I tell? The same with 9700pro I don't really care what rev it is since I don't get cold boot problems.

I have 166 * 14. 2339Mhz is reported in MM5. Due to Epox's habit of erring on the side 1Mhz faster than stated. Bios sets to 1.9v and MM5 says 1.95v. Temps have gone up from 20 deg c stock to 29deg c load o/c.

This is probably the optimum I can get. I have my 166fsb and I don't think I should try for 166 * 15 since my processor is worth more to me alive.

I have a stock r9700pro and that will probably get some more 3d marks. At 15k atm. The only other thing is two sticks of OCZ 434Mhz cl2 for the dual channel. That would be nice!
