not another BF2 thread i hear you say but hey i need a fix too :slobber:
my system spec
2500 barton @ (1.8ghz) (needed stability for uni ;))
2x256mb ocz pc4000
epox 8rda3g
9700 128mb catalyst 5.7 14/07/05
80gb maxtor 8mb cache
200gb maxtor 8mb cache
SB audigy 5.1
win xp pro SP2
directx 9.0c
when i try and run the setup i get the BF2 pic, then it says preparing for setup the screen flickers and thats it :(

Reinstall directX 9.0c, it says 9.0b on your system, even if you have 9.0c.
Go for an older driver for your video, maybe 5.5 , it doesn't accept it on the sheet somehow.

had the previous driver on there orignally but i updated because it wouldnt run. have tried reinstalling 9.0c but it says its already installed. have read the compatibility doc and it doesnt mention 9700 and it says it doesnt like audigys :(

I have an Audigy, no problem, i have a 9700pro, no problem.

please try and go to Directx and download from there, it should install it, even if you have it. when i have reinstalled 9.0c, just in case after an uninstall, it let's me install it, despite the fact my system tells me i have it, maybe a file has gone under an uninstall.

cant uninstall because it cant find my back up & cant roll back because i have to register the program :(

It is a driver issue, course your system should have no problems with the game (it's a ram eater, but anyway) i had a problem with the 5.6 radeon for my 9700pro, so i went back to 5.5, and everything was ok.

Did you play the demo, and if have you uninstalled it properly
