When mounting a block for cooling the CPU on a VPC system, does it clamp onto the notches on the socket like the retainer clip on a heatsink, or do you need to do some special drilling and such?

Much thanks in advance. I'm making a system with my step-dad using an old fridge.

EDIT: And, what's a good design for the innards of a block? I've seen that maze's are popular in extreme cooling... but I'm still a n00b.

I love the cap-in-cap style that lardarse has made so famous. They are so easy to make its rediculous. As far as mounting the block, most people take the original HSF bracket off and use the holes in the motherboard for their hardware. Check the guides section for some mounting suggestions. I use the PVC leaf trap like lardarse uses.

The stock mounting options are generally not strong enough to handle an evaporator, nor do they provide enough mounting pressure. Like stockhatch said, most people remove the stock heatsink mounting thing (if the board has one) and then use the holes to mount things. You can just put a piece of neoprine against the back of the motherboard, and then put something fairly strong agains that (lexan, wood, pvc, etc). You then put some long screws through the backing and motherboard, and use those screws to mount the evaporator.
