Malves,

I just wanted to thank you for the nice vdimm and vdroop mod you did on my p4c800 it looks great :) couple questions though...

when you finished with it, did you by chance test it out and see if it all worked ?

the reason im asking is that i got it last night and put it together, but now it is not working at all :( the computer starts up, but no POST screen or nothing.

i have tried 4 diff video cards 3 keyboards, 3 mice and i have taken everythng apart twice and reinstalled it all and still nothing.

does anyone have any other idea ?

PS i hope i did not screw anything up when i messed with the blue thingies...

either im lucky, or good ;)

well i took my modded mobo out and switched it with my other one, and :toast: it works.... :) :)

now why wont my modded mobo work ?

ive got the blue thinggey.... for my vdimm set just a tad over 3.0v with a pair of 2x256 OCZpc4000 gold, that is not to much for them is it ????

and the other one for my vdroop set at 28k ohms measured with mm, with my leads touchig the blue thinggey.... ' sorry Malves, i had to scrape away some of your liquid tape to check the resistance'

anyone have any ideas ?

Thanks in advance

clear cmos? I think he does test the board but im not sure. Resistnce when the vr is soldered and unsoldered are sometimed different.

Yes, tested vdimm. Can't test the board to see if posts, because I don't have a P4. If you were able to set vdimm at 3v, then the mod works. Why did you touch the droop mod trimmer? Like, did you turn it?

Really don't see any reason for it not to post.

yes i turned it, hope i did not :bananna: it up. for the vdroop

that was the only thing i could think of on why it was not working.

i pulled all my cards out and still no POST cleared CMOS, reinstalled cpu, so that was my last hope, so i went to your site and checked for the correct resitance and set it a 28k ohms. and still nothing

i just hope i did not send you a bad mobo,

i had a p4p800 that i had to RMA so i took it to my comp guy and a few weeks later got a call from him that ASUS sent me a new P4C800 and to come and pick it up

So, you never tested that board before sending it to me?:(

You should've never touched the droop mod trimmer. The resistance reading from it, after soldered in place, is not the same. It has to be set at 28kohms before the mod (before soldering).

can i unsolder one pin on the trimmer for the droop mod, then set it to 28kohms then resolder it back, will that work ?

Try setting the Vdroop variable resistor to its maximum resistance (keep turning it until its resistance stops increasing). Doing that should effectively remove the effect of the droop mod.
IIRC, the value of the Vdroop resistor with the variable resistor set at 28k is about 20k, but get someone else to check that value, because I'm not 100% sure that its correct.

Did you ever smell anything burning? :(

By all means do as Malves suggest, but you could unsolder the vr on the droop mod and check to see if the board will post. Just make sure the bare wires aren't touching each other or anything else.

i guess i sent you a  mobo to mod.....

i unsolered one pin on both ot the vdroop and vdimm mod and still no post screen ???????

before unsoldered, the vdroop was 28k ohms then i unsoldered it and it showd 42k ohms, so i reset it to 28k ohms and tried to start up. nothing happened :)

so i unsoldered the vdimm and still no post screen.

my hd run up, but no lights on my keyboard show up, mouse, or screen, so i guess its a bad mobo?
