Home Depot hardware isle, 4 pack of 1/2" nuts. Increases the contact pressure and will improve heat transfer to evaporator.

crushed cpu is my guess :)
Hah, old trick from water block time :D
You should put some nuts in back plate, my bolts jumped out when I screwed it tight

Resluts from the P5ND2?? You gotta be kidding...
Poor overclocking, poor performance even with phase change cooling on it.
Memory performance was horrid and anyone doing a memory review or comparing to AMD counterparts with one of these is an idiot.
If you wanted to do a super skewed compare, use this board and AMD will win in any benchmark by a large margin.
The nuts will not slip from where they are pinned in that picture, the fit nicely.
I dont think you can crush a P4 core without removing the heatspreader unless you use a sledge hammer.

I can vouch for that. I've tightened a few waterblocks until the motherboard bent to its breaking point and the cpu is just fine.

I never use springs in my mounting,at least at phase change, for a nicer and stronger contact

Wasn't kidding, and I didn't mean the P5ND2 either.
I was wondering how much temperatures improved by increased pressure.

Yeah, both when mounting my DI tube and my ghetto modded socket A to A64 waterblock I learned that just the thumb nuts directly on the hold down is a lot more effective... Unless you get some VERY resistant sprigs.

I assume you weren't getting a bad mount and this is to increase mounting pressure. Did you notice any change in temps? Thanks for the tip.

I seen a memory review done on the P5ND2 :oscar:
My bad for making that comment :ROTF:
Contact pressure is very important to the transfer of heat between the two surfaces. the greater the better unless it prevents your system from booting. iirc the IC7 series has a problem with too much pressure.
This was a super simple mod that yields results without spending money.
Now I want to see a Abit AW8 booting over 300FSB

Bumped by request, good info here for Vapo owners.

Charles, too much contact pressure can actually warp the substrate and the IHS...
Intel goes on about this problem for about 10 pages in one of their white docs on P4 cpu coolers.
(not intel bashing, infact I wish amd would publish articles like Intel does, and hte problem is apparent in a64 too)

The nuts will bottom out before too much pressure is reached.
I have tested this on many motherboards and yet to have a problem.

Just some 0.5 CM plastik washers :)

What about the normal Vapo LS Clamshell is their any news that this will fit on the new DFI Lanparty 590 Intel board?
