Well, i recieved a chilly1 PS about 2 weeks ago. I read up on insulation like crazy while he was building it. It arived, i went to the sticky here on XS (thank for pointing me to it guys) and followed those instructions, as well as used die elec grease. it worked fine and no condensation, untill about 4 days ago, my computer would not boot, so i looked at the socket, and all around the evap was wet. and it apears that most of the foam has shrunk. What used to be a dificult fit now slides in and out with ease... Any advice on what i could do to fix this problem would be well aprciated, i was lucky all that got killed was my mobo, so i ordered a new one and now cant decide weather to sell the PS or give it another go...

can you post any pictures of how the foam has "shrunk"? are you using a chilly1 mounting kit?

yes, im using a chilly1 kit. and i dont have a digi cam here sorry, but if you look at the sticky abotu inulation for a chilly1 machine, the big donut thats between the mobo and top plate and the tall thin donut that goes into the "doscombobulator" has also shrunk :(

I've got Chilly1's u nit here too... No complaints, though. Too bad you can't post pics too as this would help a lot. How did you do the insulation for your mobo?

if I recal correctly (never used chilly's mounting though) it doesn't require foam around the base, only the big squichy donut thing (yea.. I so used the proper name.. lol) is it possiblee that you had it clamped down too tight? you only need a little bit of pressure on something like that for it to form a seal, if you put too much the elastic properties of the material degrade somewhat and it wont "spring" back to its former shape, sound like it may have been that? (sorry, hard to tell w/o a pic)

That's odd... I've had my unit for about 3 months now and haven't had a single condensation problem so far... Well, once but it was me being extremely dumb a bit at the moment  I did insulation a bit differently, though.
Did you do all the steps like I did here (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=59431)? Did you have bolts tighted pretty hard? Did you make sure that donut doesn't "fold-around" those 2 caps, one on the DIMM side and one opposite?

i didnt put the seal tape on the mobo like you did, i used foam, i guess seal tape is better :). and would it be wise to put seal tape on the bottom of the top plate, so that the squishy donut is coverd by it on both sides?

Well, it's probably not THAT necessary but I believe it wouldn't hurt. Thing is, that seal string is very sticky and peeling of that donut from the tape results in a bit of a loss of the very surface of the donut.
I thing that something must have gone wrong from the beginning of the instalation... Sorry to hear that your mobo is dead, bud.
