hi all!what do you think about this evaporator project?it seems like a nazi evaporator lol, but i haven't done it for the svastic design obviulsly but only for the good design;)

sorry for the ugly and unaccurate paint design

I think it can work pretty well as a evap and very good too as a waterblock, very nice design

swastika?

a little bit creepy, but, it would work. only problem I have would be there is a chunk of copper (center of the swastika) over the core, I prefer to have refrigerant evaporating directly over the core, not sure if it matters THAT much, but I have no way to test for sure. (maybe one of the more experienced builders can tell me I'm wrong? :P)

Hitler didn't design the swastika, so how could he have a copyright on it?? :)
It was actually designed by the ancient Egyptians, about 3,000 years ago. Strangely, it means "good to be" or "good luck" and basically a symbol of peace.

it is untill you put the 90*C angles in the opposite direction.

Racist! j/k
just because it looks similar to something used by the nazi-regime it sure does not mean he's a racist.
The Swastika got a new meaning after WW2, it had good meanings but was abused.
Now if a new development in whatever would look like a Swastika should it been forbidden? I hope not...
I hope the Administrators/Moderators will remove postings like this to prevent a discussion ending in nowhere.

gloatlizard:
unless you have 2 channels you may have problems with the flow resistance, it hast to be nearly the same or the refrigerant will only flow through one channel.

8mm base thickness???
Based on what principle people uses that gigantic base?
You need to get the heat of your proc as fast as possible, you have the IHS first, then a 8mm thick base, so your heat will never gets a path... you only get wider delta in proc/evap temps.
My next evap will be 3mm or less thickness.
Check the comparative graph in evap/proc temps in the Asetek site, you know that the promie have a much ticker base than the vapo ls, see what happend...

haha a swastika... who are you building that for? actually that is still used today I think it's on the Isle of Man's flag (an island near england). My father was a history major and he once explained that it was indeed an ancient symbol, I think it is from egyptian times.

Special_K
07-12-2005, 07:47 PM
yes, the swastika was an ancient symbol originally

no the IOM doesn't use it for it's flag - it uses 3 legs of Knights armour

anywhoo - evap design looks nicely thought out =]

yea.. need to seal off one direction imo.

Because everybody always said its better to have a big base in direct dies because it would hold better loaded temps and stuff, all my waterblocks always used 2mm,ill try to make some evaps in different thickness to see what performs better

Bergo
07-12-2005, 09:02 PM
agreed w/ dippy, I think you might have better performance if you only have one channel for the refridgerant to flow through, although, it will be highly dependant on how you plan to mount your motherboard, if it's going to be horizontaly positioned (desktop) then it won't be as much of a concern, however, if you plan on having this in a tower case, w/ the motherboard vertically mounted, then the refridgerant is going to follow gravity

Ssilencer

then the refridgerant is going to follow gravity

I dont think so, the refrigerant is entering the evap at high velocity, not in drops.

the evaporator's base should be 4mm thick and on the cose(center of the svastica) it will be of 9mm,should work fine, however first off i've to buy a cascade:D so after 200years come there and you will see it workin:D

however the big pression push the gas to all 2 the channel,so you will have however a good refrigeration, has to be tryed.however you can do also this if you want in order to be sure that that wouldn't happen

so all refrigerant power will be pushed by the swastic design into the center directly on the core;) hey guyz try to build it if you can

Wow I cant believe ppl dont know what j/k means, I mean were on the internet afterall thats where the 1337 hax0r language was invented, lol, brb, lmao etc.. J/k = Just kidding, and even if you were a racist it doesnt matter to me ive heard worse and seen worse, learn to take a joke and quit being so paranoid :stick: and u were asking for it posting your design, j/k (read above sentance for meaning)

Anyhow, this was also meant generally, I have my experience with german forums, most things are ending _much_ more worse than here.
